If it just works on full the whole time, no matter what position it is in, stop using it immediately! The switch has burnt out and is taking the full load which could end up disastrous for your wiring. If you can't get it off, belt it (worked for me) or simply pull out the fuse for the blower motor.

Hope it helps!

It is a very easy job to replace it - and I know this because I did it myself and I'm by no means handy in any sense of the word.

Seems I have the same problem here .. works all the time even when switched off.
I went to remove the fuse but ..

The fuse cover does not show which fuse is which.. ??????
Can someone tell me which fuse to pull please.
And how do I get to the switch ( I assume I need to replace it )
Thanks Guys

Re: blower fan

Hi VCM,
Do you have a Series 1 or Series 2 ?
It is the same fuses for either (fuse 19 & 24) but the orientation of the fuse box is different so I need to know to give you the correct diagram.

Hi Rev !
same as yours, mate, a 2003 series 1 Ti-L
Is it difficult to replace that switch?? Not sure where its located

EDIT: Found the correct fuses ( 19 & 24 ) Thanks mate !!!
Damn those numbers were hard to read .
Now If I only knew where the switch was located and how to get to it ..
Any advice?

Re: blower fan

Hi VCM,

The switch ...
Since you have a Ti also, then you have a climate control aircon so chances are the Fan Control Amp has shorted.
This controls the fan speed from the auto climate controller and is an electronic speed controller so it controls the fan voltage and current.
If it has failed, chances are it is either full on or open circuit and the fan never works. Seems like yours is full on.

Below shows the location of it in the blower fan control circuit and its physical location.

Re: blower fan

Thanks Kev !!!

Removed the little bugger emoticon
Is there any way of testing it before I go out and buy a replacement?

Re: blower fan

VCM,

How competant are you or a friend with a multimeter to measure electrical voltage and continuity ?

There are pages from the Electronic Service Manual I can post for you but if you can't use them then better having an auto electrician test it. They will know how to test it when you show them the circuit diagram.

Re: blower fan

I know how to use one, but I've sent the item off to be tested and possibly repaired by Automotive Instruments in Mulgrave Vic.
I got a quote of $180 from Berwick Nissan emoticon
Thought it would be cheaper to have it repaired.
I got my fingers crossed

Re: blower fan

Hi Guys - my fan speed 2 is no longer working (ST 2002) 1,3 &4 are working fine though. It seems I also need to replace the ST Blower Fan Resister. The local wreckers has an ST - so I'm hoping to grab it off that one - however I have no-idea where it is located? -Can anyone help me with a description or picture of how to find it an replace it.

Thanks in advance!

Re: blower fan

Are you sure it is the resistor and not the #2 position on the switch ?
It would be advisable to check the voltage of the switch positions to make sure the switch is OK first before you get the resistor from the wreckers as you may need the switch instead.

Here is the location of the resistor.

And here is the schematic of the wiring connections for the switch and resistor.

Re: blower fan

I have tested the continuity of the switch & also have swapped it out with a 2nd hand one. Still fan selection #2 does not work (fan stops). - So I can only assume that it is the fan resistor that is at fault.

Thanks very much for the diagrams - I'm assuming it will be fairly easy to find once I've removed the glove box.
