How to stop unwanted PMs

Hi Guys,

There has been an instance where a member of our board had received an un-welcome PM from a new user on our board.

The new user in question had only completed the registration process on Runboard and had not made any posts anywhere on Runboard (including our forum) which would have added his username to the Members List.

By doing so, the new user in question had access to PM and Forum Email features and was able to contact any registered user on ANY Runboard hosted forum (including ours)

Runboard are unable to block such type of users because the registration process is not board/forum specific until they make their first post and get added to the forum members list.

In such cases, I highly recommend you IGNORE such type of users and do NOT respond to their PM at all. Eventually they'll get bored and leave!

But, you (members of the forum) also have the option to STOP receiving PMs from such type of users and you can add their username to the Ignore List in your control panel settings.

Here is how to do it:

Click on the Control Panel at the top of the board (you must be logged-in to the forum to be able to do that)

Click on Change Miscellaneous Settings

Now, all you need to do is locate the PM Ignore box and add that username in there.

In the example below I have blocked Noel cause he keeps hassling me every night with his PMs. hahahahaha emoticon (just kidding)

Once you've done that, click on "Save Settings" at the bottom of the page and you will never be harassed by that user again.

P.S. You also have the option to turn-off the PM and Email features completely, but doing that will prevent ANY member of the forum from contacting you and I don't think you wanna do that of course.

Hope this helps.
