Re: Heavy Duty Wiring Loom

Brett,

The only difference is the relay part of it (3 relays instead of 2) and that extra wiring plug I have shown in the pics above. Plus I just noticed that the part number is M002L

If you need any more info. please let me know.

Thanks for your help.

The wiring kit I received seems to be a little bit different than yours. It is still M002 but has 3 relays (yours seem to have only 2 relays)

Mate, spoke to my cousin and he has never heard of the M002L model. He thinks it may have been custom made for this guy by his local dealer as the norm is only 2 relays. Sorry I couldn't be more helpful.

As for the light output of my wiring loom, I finally got the chance to take some pics. The camera doesn't really show it properly, but the difference is more then depicted. See if you can tell the difference. emoticon

I have taken the pic from the middle of the car, so neither light is angled more towards the camera.

Mate, I don't think it's custom made because it is exactly the same kit as shown HERE The instructions mentions 3 relays as well, but they seem to talk about land cruisers and the like.

I may have to visit the local ARB shop to sort this out, but thanks for trying anyway.

In regards to the "L" this was on the plastic bag containing the wiring loom, so I presume it refers to the "LOOM" and not a specific part number. The part number on the box itself is M002

Brett,

Do me a favour mate and check your high beam dash indicator. Tell me if it still comes on with this wiring loom added or not?

I have just done some searching and realised that this extra wiring harness which confused me is actually meant for Land Cruisers which have negative switch headlight operation, it can be ignored in our case.

Thanks Brett, the difference is very noticeable. Worth the effort I think for sure. I assume these were the +80 globes also ?

Jalal, the dash indicator is driven from the left-hand highbeam wire.

Should not make any difference which side the loom is powered from as the indicator only needs voltage, not current.

We're lucky if that is the case, as the rest of the guys reported that their high beam dash indicator stopped working because there wasn't enough current to power it up with the ARB wiring loom. They ended-up needing a diode and high wattage resistors to make it work again.

Guys,

The in-dash high beam indicator works as normal.

Yes the globes are Philips +80. I love them. Never been flashed and like the FATBOYS, the low beam is unreal. The high beams are excellent also, but work really well with the spotties. The give a wider spread then the original bulbs, great for the side of the road.

Re: Heavy Duty Wiring Loom

OK Guys,

Fitted the ARB wiring loom today after figuring out what to do with that extra wiring harness that was there. Easy, leave it un-connected emoticon

I can't report the same positive results as Brett, as the wiring loom simply had no impact whatsoever on the IPF Fatboys.

I couldn't tell any difference between the brightness of the passenger side which had the ARB wiring loom and the driver's side which had the factory loom.

At one stage the driver's side looked just slightly brighter (to me)

There was no change both in low and high beam, so to me the only advantage of having this wiring loom is ensuring my headlights are running on separate relays and have thick guage wires instead of the thin factory ones, apart from that, it seems the IPF Fatboys are bright enough and can't be any brighter.

Image Image

I would have gotten worried if they'd became brighter, as they will be a killer on the road LOL emoticon

The only negative aspect of this ARB wiring loom is that the headlight connections are fully exposed, meaning the wire connections are all visible. This won't be much of a concern to me as a city driver, but it would be for those taking their exy off-road and doing creek crossings.

I suggest you have these connections taped or sealed somehow.
