Re: Budget (sub $200) Tyres
Got a new set of Cooper ATR's for the Exy today. Price was $190 each (previous price was for Elderado), set of 5 for $950 in the 215/75R15 size fitted, balanced and alignment front and rear. Sold original toyo spare for $110 privately.
All previous prices were over a grand for this at most other tyre stockists.
Will make entry in the tyre poll after a couple of weeks so an appropriate assesment can be made.

Re: Budget (sub $200) Tyres
Hi Guys,
Can you please shift this discussion about the stock bridgestone tyres to the other existing tyre thread, so we can keep this one for the "budget" tyres please.

I finally nursed my Dunlop 501's to their death. Only 47,000km which is disappointing as the original Toyo's got 60,000km
Replaced them with the Maxxis tyre for $104 each. Bob-Jane Drumoyne. Highly recomend them as a tyre shop. Most others have the Maxxis for $140+
I'll keep you posted on the Maxxis.
That does sound abit low for the Dunlops, but considering you got 60,000 on the factory Toyo's, your driving style must be fairly sedate - I was lucky to get about 30,000 out of my Toyo's - I imagine I'd get considerably less than you if I had fitted the Dunlops too.
As for the price you quoted - I recall seeing a Bob Jane catalogue/junk mail brochure in the mailbox last week or the week before, and saw the same ones - the tread looks like a cross between A/T and H/T pattern.
The Maxxis is the MA 701. Has a "old fashioned" tread pattern, if thats the right word. Probably similar to the toyos if memory serves me correctly. I'm no expert on tyres!
We brought the Xtrail with 60K on the clock, and worn out toyos, so I cant claim credit for getting them to that stage. As far as the dunlops were concerned, we eeked every last mm of rubber from those babies. Mechanics were telling us as long ago as a last year, they needed changing.
