Re: NEW from Cessnock

Wal,

Not meaning to tell you what to do as it is your car and a risk you're willing to take, but this problem can't wait for you to wait for it to happen again, because it may well be the last time it'll happen before a big cloud of steam comes out of your engine bay and the only way you will get your exy to any mechanic, would be on a back of a tow-truck and you will be looking at a repair bill of over a grand.

By the time you complain about this to TV shows and local motoring associations, you will be left without a car for a month or two.

Since it is under warranty, any dealer has the obligation to fix the problem, so you might as well leave it at the dealers and insist they contact Nissan Australia and seek a ruling on how to fix it. That way, you will at least have evidence that you showed the problem, insisted on having it fixed and they refused! You'll be in a much better position than taking your car with a blown head gasket for them to point the finger of blame at you for not paying attention to overheating.

Re: NEW from Cessnock

I have had this problem since January - and I think we have another thread on it somewhere. Under a bit of load, (e.g. the climb up onto the plateau from Melbourne to Gisborne which the exxy has always handled without blinking) the temp. gauge now starts to climb from a little below centre to about the same above centre. This is enough for the ecu to turn off the air conditioning. Never had any problem before. Did it to me again last week. I just had the 110,000 service (yes I'm out of warrantee) and the Ultratune mechanic replaced the thermostat. We'll see what happens when I head north again tomorrow evening.

EDIT: The discussion is under "Fuel and Oil" "Cooling"

Re: NEW from Cessnock

Hi,

My suggestion would to be take it straight into Kloster Nissan Newcastle. If there is a problem those guys will find it. Just make sure you tell them exactly what happens and what has already been done and that you still feel like it isn't right. Out of anyone in the Newcastle/Hunter region they have had the most experience at pulling these cars apart.
