T30 Hyper Roof Rails with Lights
Hi Guys,
I have managed to find a company that manufactures the hyper roof rails with lights (the same found on the ST-R model exy in Australia) for the exy and they actually supply them to Nissan dealers who offer them as an option for customers at the time of purchasing.
Here are some pics of them fitted to an exy overseas.
The company has sent me the fitting instructions of these hyper roof rails and the installation process is far from being simple and requires a professional install by a body shop.
It involves the removal of all plastic trims and the roof lining and the removal of the existing roof rails for these ones to fit, then wiring would have to be run for the search lights at the top.
Having said that, the end result is awesome.
They're priced at around US$380.00 (excl shipping) and am seriously looking at importing a set and have them fitted locally
If I do that, I will colour code the light brown part of the hyper roof rails in black to match the exy, but this colour would suit the Twilight xtrails perfectly I reckon.

Re: Hyper Roof Rails with Lights
Yes Adam, the first pic shows them fitted on an exy with a sunroof. The factory roof rails are in the same position as in the xtrail without the sunroof.
Now if you ask me about the ability to fit them with the factory spoiler, then nope, it is either one or the other and you can't have the hyper roof rails with the spoiler, as the hyper roof rails contain a built in spoiler already and extend all the way to the top edge of the tail lights.
My spoiler will go on sale when I install these roof rails LOL I am preparing myself to start modding my exy to match the 2008 model which will come with the hyper roof rails as standard it seems
The choice that was given to you when you bought your exy was a DVD System with the roof mounted screen or the sunroof.

Ah, oops, sorry did not notice that!

I am sure that these roof lights were also an option, maybe it was on the ST. It was a long time ago and I was not really paying attention as at the time we just needed a car.

It wouldn't have been Adam, unless they were offering you the ST-R instead of the ST. I have inquired about these hyper roof rails before and got as far as Japan where they told me it comes factory assembled and not sold as an accessory. Having now seen the fitting instructions, I know why they wouldn't sell it as such.

Re: Hyper Roof Rails with Lights
Hi Jamie,
After seeing the fitting instructions and what is involved, I would estimate the amount of work needed to have them fitted either a FULL day (from 7:00am to 6:00pm) or 2 days labor charge. The expensive part about these hyper roof rails would most certainly be the installation charge.
I am now trying to find out if I can find roof racks to suit them, as I still want to use my luggage pod for long trips and I am not sure if there are any roof racks that would suit this type roof rails.

Re: Hyper Roof Rails with Lights
Jalal,
I have found a post in the nissanforums.com site in regards to the hyper roof rails.
It mentions that there are specific roof racks available through nissan for the hyper roof rails.
Its a post from 2005, but hopefully it may help.
On the nissan mexico webiste it has a picture in the Xtrail accessories page http://www.nissan.com.mx/accesorios/index.php with the hyper roof rails with black cross bars that fit into the hyper bars, here is the picture,
They dont seem to clamp on, instead it looks as though they are slotted into the rails during install.
Hopefully this is of some help.
Admin Edit: Broken link fixed

Re: Hyper Roof Rails with Lights
Thanks Tague,
I have raised the question on the other forums as well and an xtrailer from the UK was going to take pics for me of his roof rack kit.
You're correct. The pic of the Nissan Mexico one is exactly what I need and this is the kit that Nissan sells.
It slots it into the existing hyper roof rails after taking the top part off.
Awesome stuff mate, you're a champion
Hyper roof rails, here I come. hehehehe
