posticon LED Mirror Lenses

Hi Guys,

As it always been the case where the Australian X-Trail Forum pioneered nearly every new accessory that hits the markets, the case is no different with this latest LED technology emoticon

This accessory is a cool LED Mirror Lens that both awesome looking and an added safety feature that all cars should have.

Image

The design is very simple, yet very professional.

The LED arrows are built into the mirror lens and can only be visible when you're signaling. When they're off the reflective surface of the mirror show no traces of the LED arrows at all.

This is it in the packaging

Image Image

As you can see the LED Mirror Lens comes complete with the base which will directly replace your factory mirror lens, the mirror shell/housing remains un-touched.

All you need to do is extend the wires to the fender indicator and that's it emoticon

Here it is in action and all connected

Here are some videos showing the LED Mirror Lens in action at night

LED Mirror Lens #4

This new accessory will soon be added to the On Line X-Trail Shop line-up.

Enjoy modding emoticon emoticon

P.S. I will take some pics and videos of the mirror in action in daylight tomorrow.

Am i missing somthing here? i dont get why you would want blinkers on the inside of your mirror..........

the idea of the led in the glass is pretty cool though!

You are not alone there Matt, I was thinking exactly the same! Would seem like a distraction especially as you should be checking your mirrors when turning.

This is something that I think Merc's have had for a while and other models in the US have them. Looks kinda cool but ...

Re: LED Mirror Lenses

Matt,

The blinkers on the inside of the mirror are not there for you to look at (the driver) but it is added warning to the car following you indicating that you're turning.

Most of the European cars have either these LED arrows or the LED on the external housing of the mirror which extends to the side of the mirror and it blinks so the car behind you can see it.

Adam: I drove to work and back with these mirrors on and when I signaled to change lanes inside the tunnel and looked at the mirror at the same time there was no distraction at all as the LED arrows are on the far side of the mirror and will not interfere with field of view.

As you can see, the LED arrows don't impact the rear vision at all when sitting inside the car and looking at the mirror with them on.

Re: LED Mirror Lenses

Yeah these mirrors are quite trendy indeed.

Installation was a breeze as I just taped into the wiring from the mirror covers emoticon

The mirrors are actually very silghtly "convex" making for more visibility.

And here is how they look:

Jalal - you never cease to amaze me with the products you find. Not sure if I like the idea of having this distraction in my mirror and also not sure where you would stand if it contributed to an accident. Nice find mate.

Re: LED Mirror Lenses

Brett,

As I said earlier and Noel can also second this, there isn't a slightest distraction caused by these arrows, even at night time.

Given that this is already being used on many newer cars, I can't see it being illegal if you're adding an accessory to increase the level of warning to other drivers on the road.

As for an accident caused by these arrows, I find it funny if you will claim that you were looking at your mirrors and precisely admiring the way the arrows were lighting-up to cause an accident LOL emoticon The case will be no different if you looked at your guages for an extended period of time and forgot all about the road ahead emoticon

Re: LED Mirror Lenses

I happened to see these LED mirror indicators in action while o/s in Colorado last week. They are very noticeable and a very effective indicator (keeping in mind most vehicles in the USA use their red tail lights as indicators).

I can see how they wouldn't be a distraction for the driver of the vehicle that has them fitted as the LED's are directional, and seeing as the driver is off to the side of the direction of the LED's, distraction would be minimal.

They look cool!
