20+ in the Sand!
Anyone know any more about how this happened?
King tide buries at least 20 4WDs
January 21, 2007 02:03pm
Article from: AAP
ANGLERS competing in a beach fishing event got a little more than they bargained for when a king tide buried their vehicles and left them stranded in sand dunes.
At least 20 four-wheel drives were left buried to the roof line in sand, near Kingston in South Australia's southeast, after the tide caught their owners by surprise last night.
"This king tide was a little bit bigger than normal," a police spokesman said today.
"Our main thing at the moment is to check everybody is safe and well.
"We believe no one was injured, but we just have to account for everybody at this stage."
The Adelaide Bank rescue helicopter was flying to the area and police patrols and SES crews were joining a search, the spokesman said.
Police have asked any competitors who left the area during the night to contact Mt Gambier police.
"At this time it's not known when the vehicles will be recovered from the beach," the police spokesman said.

Re: 20+ in the Sand!
The story got a few seconds just now on the Channel 9 news - they showed a commodore, afalcon, a mercedes sprinter (or ford transit) and a ford courier!
