Re: Malfunction Indicator (Dashboard Engine Warning Light)
Yes Jalal that is the ON position...what you incorrectly thought I was referring to is called START
Oh and Marryann,
Each time you retry, make sure you turn the key to OFF and wait for atleast 20 secs before trying again.

Re: Malfunction Indicator (Dashboard Engine Warning Light)
i've have problems getting into the diagnostic mode, I've followed the procedure layed out
here and on the link, i'm using a stop watch each time, i'm waiting over 20 seconds between trying again and I just can not seem to get it to work, I've spent a several of hours between reading here on the forum on this topic and back trying to do the procedure again and again and still not working for me. Is it possible that something is wrong with the accelerator release sensor or am i just missing something.
the following is what i am doing
i get in the car, wait 20 seconds at least on stopwatch, put key in,
turn key to on postion and start stopwatch, when I see 3 seconds I
then press accelerator to floor and release to top
(((have tried various pauses at each end as well as no pauses at all)))
for 5 times (which all were under 5 seconds for the 5 cycles combined)
at the precise moment of releasing the 5th time i check the stop watch
and 7 seconds later i depress and hold the accelerator
(which i next expect to see flashing of mil, but never happens)
(and I've tried to release right at 10 seconds as well as just waiting longer for
it to start flashing, but it never does.
i also tried a procedure i read in another post about it being not possible to switch the diagnostic mode when an accelerator pedal position sensor circuit doesn't work,
so I tried Accelerator Pedal Released Position Learning (key on off 2,10 secs respectively twice), and Throttle Valve Closed Position Learning key on off 10,10 secs respectively
Any help would be apprecaited, thanks.

Re:
Hi Andrew,
If you do a search for CAM & Crank sensor on the forum, you will be find detailed posts on the part numbers and how to change those sensors yourself. You can clear the code after fitting the sensors (and you must change both of them at the same time) by re-setting the ECU.

Re:
Not for too long though as it will eventually be hard to start and you'll notice an impact to the fuel consumption so the sooner you change those sensors the better

Re: Fuel Composition and Orange Engine Malfunction Light
Fellow Xiers, First and foremost, I must say that this Forum has been extremely invaluable in addressing matters concerning my 2nd hand 2007/8 petrol t30. For one thing, it/you have helped me save a lot of cash. It's such a pity Nissan does not invest in customer care.
I'd just like to present my 2 orange Engine Malfunction Light experiences. First, I'd test-driven the car before buying, but after paying and going to pick it up, I noticed to my horror that the light was on. The seller said it was probably just a fuel problem. On my way home, the engine stopped, landing me right in front of a shantytown. Luckily, I managed to restart it and make it to base. My local mechanic traced the fault to the Engine Rev Sensor - very expensive, but the previous owner reimbursed me.
2 years later, the dreaded light came on again, this time on a remote mountain road in dense fog at night, no white lines or cat's eye - a nightmarish scenario to have a breakdown. Luckily I made it home. Next day, my mechanic ran the tests and found it was the lambda (oxygen sensor). He somehow turned off the light and told me to consume most of the fuel and then fill up at my regular Shell station. Apparently, other oil companies in Brazil do not strictly control the ethanol content, and our Xies are very sensitive beasts. I have also learnt that, if this light is red, you must stop immediately.
What is weird is that I am still using up that batch of dodgy fuel, but the light has not come on again. Can anyone explain this behaviour ?
