Re: Nissan roof racks - poor finish (any options ?)

The Series 1 genuine Nissan roof racks are Rola Sports racks that have been re-branded. At least; that's what I have got.

OK think I've read every thing on the genuine roof racks.
I have a T30 series 2 and a can't work out if the genuine roof racks were changed to Rhino sports from the (100% confirmed in the forum) series 1 rebranded Rola.

It seems this way, although somewhere in the threads thule is mentioned

Does anyone know for sure, ie bought rola or rhino accessories that fit the nissan series 2 racks?

Need the bikes on the roof.....it's getting a bit long

Thanks emoticon

Re: Nissan roof racks - poor finish (any options ?)

Hi all.

I have just installed my new genuine Nissan roof racks. Am I right in thinking that the racks (and all my precious cargo on top) are inadequately held down by one short bolt only? I mean, really! If I've got my sailboards on top, doing 100kmh down the freeway and pass a truck doing similar speed - am I going to lose my load?? Has anyone had any issues with footings coming loose or even coming off? Should I not be concerned?

Same thing for roof racks fitted with straps to the window sills.
They only have one bolt holding the strap to the mounting foot which only sits on the roof.

4 bolts actually (1 for each corner) so it is a team effort. I am not concerned the racks are rated to 80KG and the system has been around for years. Perhaps an engineer can jump in for an explanation on wind pressure etc?

I wouldn't be too concerned either as the roof racks are rated and most of the stuff you will transport on the roof racks won't give too much wind resistance, unless you're planning to travel around with a cupboard on the roof, in which case, there is a risk your exy will become a convertible during the trip LOL emoticon

Re: Nissan roof racks - poor finish (any options ?)

Thanks Kev, Zhivan & Jalal.

Another question. . . .

Do Nissan make / supply a "cap" to cover the hole left in the roof rails if I decide to take the roof racks off? Or do I need to take the brackets off too, and replace them with the original blanks?

Re: Nissan roof racks - poor finish (any options ?)

Am not sure about the T31 roof racks, but with my T30 ones I had blank cover to cover the bolts when I removed the roof racks, this was to protect the bolts from getting dusty and dirty.

Thanks Jalal.

I'll check with the local Nissan people next week & let you (& any T31 owners) know.
