Technical Error in our Forum
Dear Members,
I just realized this morning that we had a problem with our forum over the weekend, where the "submit new reply" and "preview" buttons were not working correctly and were forcing the poster to go to the site search instead.
This problem has prevented anyone from making a post on the forum.
The problem has now been resolved.
Apologies for any inconvenience caused.

That explains why it was so quiet on the forums over the weekend!
Exactly. hahahaha
And I thought, we must have offended many of you when we created the xmas wishes graphics. hehehehe
Sorry guys.
I would have expected you guys to notify us (via the admin email) of the problem, yet we have received no complaints at all from any member.
If it wasn't for my attempt to edit one of my posts this morning, this problem would have continued

Re: Technical Error in our Forum
I did send a message yesterday about it.
I had wondered why it was so quiet until I tried to post.

Re: Technical Error in our Forum
Jalal & Noel,
Just finished looking though ALL of the new posts after not logging in for a couple of days and there were some forums which showed new posts on the main page but nothing was showing as new in the actual forum page.
One of these was the Archive forum.
I can only assume it was because some posts were moved into the Archive forum and as such the affected forums showed as new posts when there were actually "removed" posts.
Is this a forum feature which can be changed ?

Re: Technical Error in our Forum
Kev,
This would happen if you log in from a different computer to the one you normally use, as the cache and temp internet files associated with your username and password (which are normally stored on your computer) are no longer there, so the forum is considering you a new user and will display everything that is new and this includes the "archive" section.
You will notice that when you get back home and log-in and you will not get the NEW icon against the archive section.
Noel experienced exactly the same thing when he deleted his Temp Internet Files. When I log-in everyday, I only see the NEW icon against the forums which had activity in terms of replies. I don't get the NEW icon against the archive section.

Re: Technical Error in our Forum
Odd.
I am using my notebook as I have always done, but now I am dialing-in from a different location but using the same ISP.
The only thing to change was the amount of board activity because I had not checked it for such a long time (couple of days).

Re: Technical Error in our Forum
Sorry Kev, I have no further explanation and it is not happening in my case here or even when I log in from work.
Next time it happens, take a snap-shot of the screen and note down the forum section where you think the error is taking place and we'll take it from there.
