And Welcome to the X-Trail Forums.
I know it's not the nicest way to get yourself an exy, but in any case your father made quite a good choice in vehicle.
If your planning any 4x4 ventures just remember the X-Trail is still a light SUV and does have it limitations. My advice is to avoid using the LOCK mode for long periods and try and use either 2WD or AUTO most of the time.
