Re: Power Window Relay

Hi John,

Not meaning to pester, I just wanted to let you know that I'm having a go at building the window delay project myself.

I don't suppose you've had time to obtain anymore PCB's for this? Just would be more reliable and happy to build it myself anyway.

If not, I'll let you know how I go,

Cheers
Sean

Re: Power Window Relay

Thanks to John for supplying a PCB for me to build and install my window delay timer.

Works a treat, very happy with the result.

One less thing that was bugging me!

Re: Power Window Relay

Guys

I know this is a late reply

For those of you looking for an auto up for all windows after lock up, check out the THIS link.

It seems to be a simple plug and play device.

I keep leaving my windows open after key removal so this seams to be a good add on..

I have one on order and will advise of the outcome

Re: Power Window Relay

Hi Jalal,
I have read this thread with interest and want to do this modification. I have constructed the circuit designed by johngqld. There is not much information on how the circuit connects to the xtrail wiring except for some wire colours. It is stated the no wires have to be cut. (yellow and blue). The output of the relay NC and Common, go to blue of harness and blue of BCM. If the wire is not cut then there is only need for one connection. Also the connector number is not mentioned (M67)?. There is a blue wire on M65 also. I cant find a “’how to do’” file for this mod. on the forum. I believe you have done this mod on a series 4. Any clarification is appreciated.

Hi Peter,

You will find the detailed PDF Guide on this modification listed in the DIY Guides section HERE. Just scroll down the list of the T31 mods.

Re: Power Window Relay

Hi Jalal,
Thanks for the reply. My confusion was related to the information in my Electronic service manual, Publication No. SM7E00-1T31E0E, Nissan XTrail T31, 2007-2013. The connectors to the BCM in my manual are numbered differently to the connectors mentioned in the how to for the power window delay mod. Do you think I may have the wrong manual for Aust.
Thanks

Re:

The manual would be referencing overseas models I reckon. Your T31 would be the same as mine, so the DIY Guide I posted is the one you need to follow, as it applies to all T31 Australian models.

OK people ... It is done, it is in and it is working emoticon

I have also made the connections so that they do not require any wire cutting or splicing at all ... just plug between the Power Window Relay socket and relay so it can be removed anytime and is also Series 1 and Series 2 compatible.

Features...
- Allows closing of windows + sunroof after turning ignition off.
- Relay drops out about 2 mins after ignition turned off (only takes 25 secs to close all 4 windows + sunroof).
- LED shows when power is available to relay for window operation.
- 'Plug & Play' construction by use of spade connectors allows for easy installation & removal.

Parts required...
- 4700uF 16V Electrolytic Capacitor (not low-leakage type as it is too big to fit in the suggested case) (EDIT 3/Dec)
- 12k Resistor
- 2N2222A npn Transistor
- 1N4004 Diodes (qty 2)
- LED 3mm Green 30mA (or any colour you like)
- 430 Ohm Resistor
- 65mm x 38mm x 27mm ABS Case (Jaycar HB6065)
- Vero Board to suit circuit layout (76mm x 95mm cut to size)
- 6.4mm Male Spade Connectors (qty 2)
- 6.4mm Female Insulated Spade Connectors (qty 2)
- 4.5mm Male Spade Connectors (qty 2)
- 4.5mm Female Spade Connectors (qty 2)
- PCB mount Dual Screw Terminal (Jaycar HM3172)
- PCB mount Triple Screw Terminal (Jaycar HM3132)
Total cost $23 (1/2 of cost is connectors and screw terminals for easy installation)

Circuit Diagram ...

Parts Layout on Veroboard ...
Image Image

Assembly ...
- place components on Veroboard and solder in place as shown in above layout photo.
- drill 3.5mm (EDIT 3/Dec) hole in case where LED will poke through.
Image
Circuitboard should sit in case as shown.
Image
- unplug the Power Window Relay from its socket (blue in colour, located bottom left of fuse panel on driver's side).
- cut two 150mm lengths of high current (25A) wire and terminate one end of each with a 6.4mm Male spade connector.
- terminate the other end of one of these wires with a 6.4mm Felmale Insulated spade connector.
- cut a 120mm length of low current (5A) wire and terminate this and the other high current wire together into a 6.4mm Felmale Insulated spade connector and mark '+' on each end of the high current wire.
- screw the free end of the low current wire into the middle screw connector of the circuitboard.
Image
- cut two 120mm lengths of low current wire and terminate one end of each with a 4.5mm Female spade connector. Screw one into left screw terminal of the circuitboard and mark '-'. Screw the second into the second right screw terminal of the circuitboard and mark '+'.
Image
- cut two 300mm lengths of low current wire and terminate one end of each with a 4.5mm Male spade connector. Screw one into right screw terminal of the circuitboard and mark '+'. Screw the second into the second left screw terminal of the circuitboard and mark '-'.
Image
- place circuitboard into case making sure LED sits through hole, lay low current wires from circuitboard through cutouts in case edge.
Image
- clip on case cover.
- plug 6.4mm insulated female connector marked '+' onto pin 3 of relay.
- plug other 6.4mm insulated female connector onto pin 5 of relay.
- plug 4.5mm female connector marked '+' onto pin 1 of relay.
- plug 4.5mm female connector marked '-' onto pin 2 of relay.
Image
- cable-tie relay onto case to finish the assembly.
Image

Installation ...
- plug the 6.4mm male spade connector marked '+' into relay socket pin 3 on far left.
- plug the other 6.4mm male spade connector into relay socket pin 5 in centre.
- plug the 4.5mm male spade connector marked '+' into relay socket pin 1 on lower right.
- plug the 4.5mm male spade connector marked '-' into relay socket pin 2 on upper right.
Image
- place relay/timer assembly into empty space to right of fuse holder access panel.
Image

Operation ...
- turn ignition key to 'ON'. LED should illuminate and windows will operate.
- turn ignition key to 'ACC' or 'OFF' or remove completely. LED will remain on and windows should operate for atleast 2 mins.
- wait for 3 mins. LED should be off or dim and windows should not operate.

Future Enhancement ...
- I would like to find an easy and non-invasive way to pickup the 'ACC' power so that the windows are operable while sitting in the car for extended periods and then have the 2 min delay when the key is removed from the ignition.

Credits ...
- Jalal for the OFF-timer circuit.
- Naff for the initial diagram of how it would fit into the exy wiring.

Hi Kev,

Can you please kindly re-upload the images again? As they don't open up anymore.

Thank you in advanced and it is much appreciated!
