Re: NSW and ACT Easter '06 trip

Thanks Pete,

We will be most interested to read the trip report when you guys come back.

I've been in Bathursat for 2 days and the local guys told me that this area will get pretty busy for the school holidays and Easter, but as John stated above there many new camp grounds that have been made available, so we should be fine if we go there.

Re: NSW and ACT Easter '06 trip

Just got back from Abercrombie, some feedback about the place
The rivers are dry so you wont be catching trout at Silent Creek.

I don't recommend that you use the Brass Walls entrance or Silent Creek and Beach camping areas as it will be a bit of a challenge without low range. Also Brass Walls is dry at the moment and very loose. If it does get a bit of rain it will be a bid muddy.

Bunerooford Camping Area, is on the side of the main road - easy access but even this weekend there were a few cars in there.

The Sink via the Arkstone entrance (North West gate) would be okay to get to for an exy. Same as inside the park I think Middle Fire Trail would be an easy drive.
From memory Licking hole would be alright.
I wouldn't recommend Silent Creek Fire Trail

I went via Goulburn- it is about 100klms north of Goulburn - which works out about the same as going over the mountains. I also came home that way but used a tar/bitumen road from Marulan to Taralga. It isn't much quicker but saves about 40klms.

Regarding my comment above about getting down to Silent Creek Campground via Abercrombie fire Trail - I am being Conservative here. If an exy got in there I wouldn't be surprised - but I just don't want to say to you that you will get in,
Pete
