Re: "Piggy Back" ECU

the nissan factory systems run in closed loop at light throttle openings, so no matter what you do with the intercepter systems this will not change, you can only change the fuel mixtures when the factory ecu is not in closed loop or you unplug the 02 sensor from the exhaust.

i havent put our xtrial on the dyno yet but i would imagine the swap over would be around 75% throttle and 3000rpm.

the fuel economy increase comes from optimising the ignition timing, a little more timing in the light load areas can make a huge difference.

unleaded fuel will always cause black soot in the exhaust even if it is running at the correct mixtures,

if anyone wants a power run in sydney i can do it on my DD Dyno.

Since fitting the piggy back ECU and tuning it correctly and using the 98 Premium fuel, I don't get any black soot in my exhaust.

Is it a hub dyno?

Re: "Piggy Back" ECU

Kev,

I just came back from a visit to Spiro at Autotech Engineering and my concerns regarding pinging at higher RPM ranges during my last run to Melbourne and back were confirmed. For some reason my exy was running too lean (around 14 AFR ratio). It could have been because I never had it re-tuned for over 2 years, so Spiro adjusted that and brought it down to 12.8 AFR.

He also confirmed that the torque split for the rear wheels in our exy is 70:30

My exy was dynoed in both 4WD and 2WD modes on a 4WD dyno and he decided to remove the 4WD fuse for the 2WD run. There was no torque going to the rear wheels at all when he removed the fuse.

The 4WD mode dyno produced around 76.8KW and the 2WD dyno produced a peak of 84.3KW. The 2WD dyno figure is lower than the previous 2WD dyno run of 99.5KW because Spiro said that he had re-calibrated the dyno after a complete failure a year ago. Dyno Dynamics came around and re-calibrated the dyno for him and since then all peak power readings are lower.

P.S. I got charged $440.00 for today's re-tuning session.

Re: "Piggy Back" ECU

Thanks Jalal.
Your 4WD figure of 76.8KW is very close to my 73.6KW.
I'll remember to remove my fuse when I get mine re-tuned.
How long / how many runs did it take ?

3 runs in 4WD mode and then he left the car to cool down for about an hour and did 4-5 runs in 2WD mode. He was taking it easy this time and didn't want to load the engine too much after I kept mentioning the cooked rear diff LOL emoticon

I don't think so, but I'll be selling my Haltech soon. The wife says the exy is just too fast for her daily school runs emoticon

Re: "Piggy Back" ECU

I'm thinking about installing piggy back on my Exy.
What's the good aftermarket piggy back?
Does it affect the factory warranty and insurance warranty?

Regards
Yoshio
