my stereo stage 2!

Hi all!

finished stage 2 of my stereo on the weekend
It took rach and I 18hours to install
We took out the seats, center console, and the plastic trim from around the doors. We made sure all the wiring was neat and tidy, this install is top notch emoticon

stage 1 was the pioneer in dash dvd player, and a pioneer adapter for the ipod and the sub which was out of my old car
the ipod is a 30gig video so i can play music and film clips through the tvs

Stage 2 is.........

 JL Audio splits

JL Audio 2 way rear fill

Pioneer 600 watt 4 Chanel amp

Jaycar 300 watt 2 Chanel amp

Viscom flip down center mount LCD screen

It sounds unreal, im so happy with it

ill start saving now for stage 3, which will be to replace the sub with 2 12inch subs and a nice looking box

ill keep you posted

let me know what you think

Matt,
That looks unbelievable. I hope you had a second car when it was all pulled apart, otherwise a trip to the shops could be fun. What size are the front speakers and did you need to adapt them to make them fit.
I suppose you'll be joining the lappers at Nobbys Beach, stereo booming away. emoticon

Re: my stereo stage 2!

Matt, looking good!

Which model of Pioneer head unit is that? And did you use the Pioneer iPod adaptor or something else?

Not sure what you have mounted where the flip down pocket normally is (just above the heating controls), looks like a blanking plate. There is actually room to mount the head unit there then when the screen is open it does not block the instruments ...

Of course if you have something else mounted there then that is not an option for you.

BTW, do you have larger pics??? emoticon

Re: my stereo stage 2!

thanx for the comments!

to answer a few questions,

ADAM,

the ipod adapter is a pioneer one, the cord pluged into the top is an av input so i can play music videos through the tv

yes, the bottom panel is a blank plate( for now, i have a few ideas for this in the near future)
i didnt want the screen down that low, so ill live with part of the speedo being blocked

not sure on the model no. for the tv, ill find out for you, im pretty sure it the same as yours, its about 18months old, i think yours just the newer model

JAL,

i was so surprised how heavy the seats were, they are the heaviest car seats i have ever lifted!

bigger(ish) pics are here

PIC007 , PIC008 , PIC010 , PIC012 , PIC014 , PIC015 , PIC016 , PIC018 , PIC020 , PIC022 , PIC025

Re: my stereo stage 2!

Hi Matt & Rach, that looks like a pretty serious stereo install!

A few questions & comments...

1. No sound deadener on the front doors???

2. Did you use the factory wiring loom for the overhead screen? I noticed there is a factory loom from the factory Ti model DVD location above the glove-box (the loom is still there even in the ST model)

3. Why did you choose the pillar location for the tweeters when there are already tweeter mounting locations under the grille on the sides of the dash (standard option on the Ti model but again wiring is available on the ST model)

4. I hope you have a decent alarm installed to help protect the system from thieves!

Well done and I look forward to seeing photos of stage 3!!!

Re: my stereo stage 2!

thanx rich,

i was waiting to see what you would think of it emoticon

now for the questions!

1- no sound deadning in the doors, its somthing i will be doing in the near future

2- no, i didnt use the factory loom, the screen only needs power ( which i ran to the remote wire on the headdeck) and an AV lead. it was just as easy to run my own.

3- no real reason for puting the tweeters on the a pillar, i thought about using the factory location, but decided to unplug the factory ones and leave them there

4- you bet!

thanx for everyones input and questions..... keep them coming!
