Re: Look what I've done to her car

Been away for work for a few days, I'll try again to post some thumbnail size photo's!!!!

Here goes nothing!
As for the progress on the car. The panel beater looked at it on Monday night, rang me Tuesday afternoon & they had got the drawings from Nissan, ordered the parts & they were due to arrive Wednesday, except for 1 which was coming from interstate. Asked to drop car down Wednesday so they could strip it & put it on the jig on Thursday. Talk about service. They expect it to take 3 weeks. Apparently the other driver was not insured with the RACV as he stated & they're still trying to track him down, but have approved our claim with no excess & no loss of rating,so that's reassuring for us.

Well done xtrailing emoticon

You're now copying the correct code, but you need to copy it in full, which means you need to highlight all of it, then copy across to your post.

The only thing that was missing in your copied codes was the [/url] at the end of each thumbnail code and I have now fixed that.

Also, make sure you leave spaces between each code you copy across (i.e. copy a code, then press enter and then copy the second code).

Good news about your exy and it is good that the insurance company didn't stuff you around waiting to track the othr guy down.

Hopefully your exy will be as good as new in no time.

Update! Been in panel beaters 3.5 weeks now, went for four wheel alignment this afternoon then off to the Nissan dealer on Tuesday to have the steering wheel replaced as it ended up bent!Hopefully we will get it back next Wednesday all going well. Insurance company has since found out that the other driver wasn't insured! Total was already up to around 9 grand without the steering wheel. Starting to have withdrawals!!

Isn't your insurance company responsible to recover the cost of the repair from the other driver (even if he's not insured)?

Are they asking you to pay for the repair? If yes, it doesn't make sense at all. How can we select which driver to have an accident with insured or not? emoticon

No, the insurance company will be recovering the costs from the other driver. As far as I am aware it wont even cost me any excess & I wont lose rating 1 / no claim bonus.
My opinion is that third party insurance against the other driver should be mandatory with your registration. Have heard it is in some states. Not sure, it certainly isn't in Victoria unfortunately.

Fair enough. I agree about the mandatory 3rd party insurance. Don't think it is NSW either.

Re: Look what I've done to her car

Well, IT'S BAAACCCK finally picked the car up on Wednesday night after 4 weeks in the panel beaters. Looks like new again, poor dear had it's first birthday while it was away!! The final bill was around 11k. Will post some pics when I get around to taking some. $1100 for steering wheel alone & i'm lead to believe this is without the bag as they transfer it from the old wheel. Now to spend the day cleaning & getting dust out of it. Worse than an outback trip!! RACV have picked up the tab & it will cost us nothing except a lot of inconvenience as we didn't take up the hire car option when we took out our policy(extra cost option)& couldn't get one off his insurance as he didn't have any(insurance). Oh well back to normal again.
