Re: Do my spark plugs need changing

Thought I'd ressurect a thread here. emoticon

Is everyone still happy with the Iridium plugs? Or has something better come along? I'm pondering getting a set off eBay since I'm coming up to 50,000km, should only be around $60.

Also, is the Aussie model engine the same as the canada/us one? Would the LFR5AIX-11 plugs fit my 06 exie LE?

Am still using them without any problems.

Yes, your engine is the same as ours, so they will fit perfectly.

Re: Do my spark plugs need changing

Hi Guys can anyone enlighten me on Bosch Platinum Plus plugs for my 2004 exy . I have the 80k service coming up and am starting to get a few things together in readiness . I was able to get these from SCA at about $25 for 4 ,so I'm just hoping I've done the right thing as they didn't have the NGK Iridium plugs in stock .
Any advice will be greatfully received .

Re: Do my spark plugs need changing

IMO, a spark plug is a spark plug.
as long as it produces spark, you wont notice much difference between different types.
the major difference is their service life and resilience.
the temperature rating is another thing that influences the plug's operation, but you wont need to change that unless like me, you intend to run with a turbo set-up, i need colder ones.

IIRC NGK iridiums can last up to 60,000kms before a change, and platinums should last about the same.

they (bosch) are a quality spark plug!

Re: Do my spark plugs need changing

I agree with your assessment Cam, but I won't go back to using standard plugs mainly due to longer life of the Iridium ones and also because they ignite better than standard plugs.

Bosch is a good quality plugs for sure.

Re: Do my spark plugs need changing

yeh true standard ones are such because they cost less for Nissan to buy and put in.

most parts on a stock car (clutch, suspension bushings, coil packs, hoses and smaller less important parts) have room for improvement because the manufacturer has the goal to make cars for as cheap as possible, hence, the parts will do the job, but not as well as they can.

spark plugs are no different!
