Test drive
Hi all,
Gonna go for a test drive in the TI-L manual tomorrow. We will see how we go. Interesting to see how it will work out with the speedo in the centre which I am not used to.
If all OK I will put on deposit tomorrow and be Xtrailing in a week or 2.
Cheers

Re: Test drive
JandG,
Don't be put off by the speedo because it is different.
I've got used to it now and prefer it in the centre. No more having to squint through the steering wheel.
There is really do difference with either looking down or looking to the side.
Kind Regards

Re: Test drive
Ok. I had my test drive today in a Xtrail
Ti-L (Leather seats, sunroof etc) and I liked it a lot.
Things I like:
Ease of controls
Sound system
Roomy
Cool boxes
Quiet engine
After 10 minutes I felt comfortable in this vehicle
Things I didn't like:
Driver side mirror shows objects further away then what they are
Interior plastics can be scratched easily
Seat were not hugging me but still ok
Could not read clearly on the dash when cruise control was on
Tomorrow I am going for another test drive. This will be in a Volkswagen Golf sportsline 2.0 Ltr
Huhhh you can't compare a Golf with a Xtrail. I am not. But from all what's on the market the Golf I like and the Xtrail I like.
Different vehicles different purpose etc
Can't have them both so...I will have to decide after tomorrow.
Wish me wisdom in my decision process,
Cheers

Re: Test drive
You seem to have mentioned only things about the general cosmetics of the car, so what did you feel about the following?:
Power
Handling
Cornering
Braking
Gear Shift (as you test drove a manual)
Acceleration
Ride smoothness/toughness.
Etc.
Those are the things I concentrated on beside the looks.
Good luck to you.

Re: Test drive
Power OK at take off...bit sluggish from 3rd gear onwards
Handling Ok, not much roll in corners
Cornering As above
Braking Excellent
Gear Shift (as you test drove a manual)Gear stick a bit sloppy but changing gears without problems
Acceleration: As I said above...OK at take off but a bit sluggish from 3rd gear onwards
Ride smoothness/toughness. Very smooth ride, very light in the steering no matter what speed (Almost to light)
Does this seem a fair summary?
Overall, I liked the Xtrail. It will give us possibilities for trips we haven't had before.
The offer for my trade in and the total price seems reasonable without having pushed them yet for any better.
Cheers

Re: Test drive
You got shares in K&N, Noel? . You have convinced me, but I put off getting one because I had to do the 40,000k service this month.
