Headlight Upgrade noticed in 1 of the forums(can't remember which one) people complaining about the performance of the standard headlights. On my vehicle I have installed a piranha off road products "Super Loom" which is a plug in upgrade for the headlight wiring loom. It runs 6mm cable to the lights so you dont get any voltage drop under load. This particular loom has been on 4 previos vehicles over the last6-7 teras with no problems at all.
It allows me also to run 90/100watt globes which gives you 90watts on low beam!! I used to run 100/145 in the discovery & didn't have a problem with flashing!! from other drivers if your lights are adjusted properly. I believe the systems are around $250 these days but as you can see they are transferable from vehicle to vehicle (as long as next vehicle has single headlights). They are available from all leading 4wd outlets & are a do it yourself kit.
Hope info is useful
Re: Headlight Upgrade How hot do the headlights get.I was under the impression that these type of headlights were made of polycarbonate and could not take the heat and would discolour if you use 90/100 watt globes.I am a former sparky (retired)and over the years have modified the wiring looms and fitted relays and removed the old sealed beams headlights on my previous hi-lux 4wd/s and replaced them with glass headlights replacements with removable globes. The previous comments are that phillips blue vision globes are the cheapest and best fix,and retain the existing wiring.I was in the nissan dealership in ballarat and they had phillps blue vision and narva blue globes for sale to any body that wanted to upgrade there headlights, and this is what they recommended.Would be interested in any comments, and if you look back in this forum you will see there have been a lot of comments on this.

Re: Headlight Upgrade Headlight upgrade has been in vehicle 8 months now, I do a bit of night driving & there is absolutely no sign of discoloration. The globe has a surround around it which should tend to distribute the heat fairly evenly around light & not just concentate it in one spot. The loom itself is supposed to brighten standard headlights by 25%, so if your worried about putting larger globes in, the other option would be to put the blue visions in with the upgrade. Haven't driven with the blue vision globes so I can't comment on them but have heard very good reports on them.
Was supposed to be 6-7 years, not 6-7 teras in last report !!
Re: Headlight Upgrade What globes do you use?I wanted to go this way, upgrading of looms relays etc,but after comments on this site just bought 50plus55/60watt globes that i am not happy with on high beam.

Re: Headlight Upgrade Sorry guys looks like I may have double posted.
Duxbac, I am running Piranha off road products globes which used to be imported & repackaged from Germany. They were originally imported under the Flosser brand which are factory fit in Porsche's.
Re: Headlight Upgrade Thank you,yes i have used the 90/100watt flosser globes in my hi-lux and they were fine.I have wired in my own driving lights and fogs and fitted two switches along side the dimmer switch in the exy.I have a high beam that is just good enough, and most times use the driving lights when i am on high beam.I might fit heaver wires to one headlight and see if it makes a difference, that can be measured.

Re: Headlight Upgrade Gday Jalal,
I was Searching for a headlight upgrade (specifically xenon high intensity gas discharge) and came across this thread and the link appears to be broken.
