X Trail with Bonnet Scoop - pics link.

Guys, pls refer..
http://www.x-trail.nl/images/x/page_01.htm

This is the first X trail I have come across with a Bonnet Scoop and I think it looks awesome, and Black makes it look even better >{Jamal ;-)}
Seen plenty of Asian modified Exys but non with a bonnet scoop.
I think this one is from Europe.
Has anyone else done this in Australia to their Exy? And if so then does it improve air intake and hence performance?

cheers

Can't see the advantage, higher than the air intake but would allow all the dust in the engine bay when off road and tailing on dust roads.

Fair enough cuffs.
Honestly, if I ever got one then it would be more for looks than anything else, however if there are people who would also like one for its technical benefits then they can consider some sort of a filter inside the scoop to overcome this dust and dirt factor.
Not sure what the set-up is with some bigger 4X4 including some Patrols having factory bonnet scoops & not forgetting the World Rally cars, all with scoops, who encounter a fair bit of dirt and dust too.

Aren't they for air-to-air intercoolers (for turbos) mounted on the top of the engine block?

I know the patrol's scoop is for the intercooler.
The new pathfinder has it's intercooler infront of the radiator

Vik,

This looks like an exy from the Netherlands and to me this scoop serves no purpose and I suspect it's just a stick-on type for show.

Looks nice though emoticon

Have you seen the off-road pics in that web site?? This exy has one the "dirt" trophy and managed to beat a couple of bigger 4WDs emoticon

Thanks for your feedbacks guys.
I just thought to check it out with the 'experts' first before some mechanic sold me the Ferrari like performance benefits of it. Plus I am sure everyone enjoyed the pics atleast. Jamal you know me...as long as it raises questions on faces at the stop lights then it has served my purpose :-). I will get one the day I can gain enough courage to tell someone to drill a couple of holes in the bonnet and a reason to explain to the missus why there is a gash on exy!

cheers
