Drivers door chime /beeper

 emoticon
I love my new 05 ST Manual, but I hate the bloody drivers door, key in chime.
As far as I am aware you cannot disable this.
It will not allow you to sit with the drivers door open and the key in the ignition or the radio/cd on with out beeping constantly.
This is a major pain if I want to watch my son at the local skate park or even clean the interior with the radio on and doors open.
Does any body know how to disbale the thing?
I can live without it

Hi Jeff and welcome to our xtrail forum emoticon

Am not sure what door chime you're referring to, as I haven't got one in mine LOL emoticon just kidding.

I have disabled mine and been happy ever since.

I've detailed the solution (work-around more like it) in THIS thread.

While it's not a perfect solution, it's better than having nissan say "sorry, we can't do it" to you emoticon

Just remember to take the fuses out when you do this.

This will disable BOTH (key-in chime and lights-on chime)

Good luck.

Please also pay the Introduction section a visit and tell us where you're from and what sort of extras you have on your exy and update the location in your profile when you get a chance.

Welcome on board once again.

If I get a chance I'll look closely at the Service Manual CD and figure out which wire you need to snip.

This is something I did on my SSS - but I disabled the entire beeper by simply unplugging it (under the dashboard).

Re: Drivers door chime /beeper

Disabled the silly warning beeper over the weekend by removing the front & rear door sill panels as well as the lower seatbelt/B pillar cover to expose the back of the switch. Disconnected the plug, pulled out a little white plastic clip to then allow me to remove the red wire/centre wire from the plug, pin & all. Reassembled & hey presto. If I want to reactivate it's just a matter of reinserting the pin back.

Phil,

Did this disable just the key-in chime or something else as well.

And to reconnect it, do you have to take the door sill off again?

You should have taken some pics and posted them in the DIY thread, as this the 3rd option/solution to this problem.

P.S. If you guys thought our door chime is bad, have a listen to a Tribute when you get a chance emoticon The whole thing is designed to make all sorts of warning sounds, lights, door, key, seat belt and even when you press the button to zero the trip meter. I would have just grabbed a shotgun and blasted the thing off. hehehe

Jalal, it has disabled the keys in, light warning as well as the door courtesy lights(not interior). Not sure if it has any effect on alarm? Is it connected to doors?

Cheers Phil

Yes Phil, that's what I meant by my question about disabling something else. You better check your alarm/door locking is working properly.

With my 1st attempt it disabled everything (including the alarm/door lock)
