Re: Air intake design

I found it Brett emoticon

Mate, HERE is what we need and it has the by-pass valve set-up too. It is the Cosmo CAI I mentioned earlier and which Roger has as well.

This is the one we need to get emoticon

I may be in luck. Reply from Nismo (USA).

USPS Global EMS will be $62.00 USD. I have never knowingly sold this to an X-Trail owner. Unfortunatly we do not have the X-Trail here for me to test fit. If you would like to try, and agree if it works, to send me pictures I can use, I would love to sell you one at a discount. Let me know! Jason

I am currently in negotiation of the price and trying to work out the return postage if it doesn't fit. Will keep you posted.

Just got to find some $$$ now.

Re: Air intake design

For your engine to get hyrdrolock your air intake must have been submerged in water.

I will be interested to see who Consumer Affairs finds at fault, Out of curiosity if Nissan Advertise the X-Trail going through a river/water.... surely they cant turn around and say "NO WARRATY"

They can basically say this for any mod emoticon but they have to prove that THIS prticular mod caused the problem and it is not a matter of the service manager saying that to you over the counter!

I bought a Cosmo CAI (not yet installed)

Come on, install it !!emoticon

I can see this being a mod that a few of us attempt soon, so how about some DIY info. Pics, problems you faced etc.

 Thanks for the info.

I have hesitated to install the CAI for 3 reasons – the pictures below will show one of the three:

Image

(See more pics HERE )

Reason 2 – I don’t have a garage.

Reason 3 – most important – I don’t have a by-pass valve as yet and with all the slush (crap) on the roads, I want to be cautious about fluid intake….

BTW, the CAI from Cosmo does NOT come with any install instructions – however, I’m sure most of us X- Trailers can make it happen.

I’ll install mine in the early spring, will take some pics and post them in the DIY category…..

Cheers = Roger
