Re: Air intake design
Jalal,
Very informative post, am glad to hear the the CAI has made a big improvement over the K&N Filter upgrade.

Care to share what you have in mind. Will be interesting to hear how it goes in the way of fuel consumption, hopefully it will be good as the upgrade will pay for itself.
So tell us more about the sound. I think you need to post us up a sound clip?

The CAI and K&N Filter upgrades are 2 different things and the price difference between the two is huge, but yes, the CAI will give you more noticeable power compared to just a drop-in filter change, but it comes with its risks and that is why I decided to play it safe and have the bypass valve included in this install. I wouldn't have fitted a CAI without a bypass valve, even though many have driven with a CAI in winter conditions and said it was fine. I wouldn't have enjoyed my driving without one. (this is just me)

I still can't say much until after I run with the CAI for a while and be sure it produces constant results and I will also monitor my FC, but I can say that once I am happy with the results I will try to have the CAI manufactured locally

In the absence of a video/sound clip, I can compare the sound of the engine when revving or passing someone at high speed to a V8 Commodore (I am not kidding)

Re: Air intake design & modifications
mmm, sound of a V8, sounds nice, and I bet it is still quiet at idle?
Manufactured locally? Sounds like a good idea. Put me down for the first order when it eventually gets made.
And Rich please don't ask me to do a water crossing test either as the answer will be a big NO!!

Super quiet at idle and yes I can now confirm that it definitely idles smoother as Roger has noticed too.

Re: Air intake design & modifications
Hi Roger,
I believe you missed the question I asked you in my earlier post:
quote:
Roger: One question, is the supplied with kit filter ready to be used, or does it need oiling? It didn't look oily to me when I installed it.
In any case, I am somewhat not comfortable with the filter supplied with the kit, it looks a bit generic to me (el cheapo)
So, I have decided to order a K&N instead and I think THIS filter which is used for the Sentra Spec-V will fit perfectly (I looked at the sizes you have emailed me previously)
As a bonus, we can have extra protection with the K&N Filter and can order the Air Filter Wrap which I think would be very advisable to you guys in Canada with winter setting in and if you don't have the bypass valve.
Let me know what you think.

Not out of topic at all Ceasar and it is a valid question.
I have covered the functionality of the AEM Bypass Valve before in the previous pages of this thread, but HERE it is explained in detail with photos.
