Replacement Wiper Blades

Perhaps this question is better suited to our local Super Cheap Auto.

Although, we are due for new Wiper Blades, 2003 TI Manual, 25000Kms.

Can anyone recommend a particular brand or type which you've bought and are using, which works well with the Xtrail? And where did you buy from?

Regards

Re: Replacement Wiper Blades

I remember from years back (with previous cars) that you can get "multi-blade" wiper replacement rubbers - supposedly the first rubber strip cleans the muck off the glass, then the other strip(s) wipe the water off... Not sure if they're still available.

One thing to look out for is the thickness of the replacement rubbers so they fit into the holder (maybe take the one off the X-Trail and take it into the shop) and also the length - I think most aftermarket wiper blades are a standard size(s), and just need cutting off at the end to suit.

Easiest would be just go to Nissan and get them - I'm sure they wouldn't be too esxpensive (they weren't big $$$ for my SSS which was the last time I bought some wiper replacements)

I agree the double blade I have used on my other cars and worked pretty good.

This post has been moved from a doubled-up one I mistakenly created emoticon

Hi Guys,

Has anyone replaced their front and rear wipers yet and if yes, which ones did you get and how much?

The dealer did not offer to replace the wipers during any of the past service inspections and I think they've been long due for a replacement, as the rubber has stiffened and it's now playing a symphony on my windscreen when I use them

I’m not a fan of K-Mart wipers, as I used them before on my Camry and they didn’t last long and they also scratched my windscreen, as the rubber compound was very poor/stiff.

Copied Noel's response to my earlier question
============================================
Jalal,

I asked this question to the forum a while back and was recommended the twin blade wipers.

Against the recommendation I decided to purchase one of the fancy single blade with 7 edge wiper blades. These I’ve found to be real crap from the very start. So don’t get these.

Cheers

Re: Replacement Wiper Blades

I haven't had to buy replacements for the Exy yet, but I bought Trico blades for my AUII Falcon. They're OEM fit for all Aussie cars (so the marketing hype says) and I found them to be good quality. A little pricier than cheap brands, but worth it IMHO.

Not sure if they make any long enough for the Exy driver's side though!! emoticon

Re: Replacement Wiper Blades

Just replaced my wiper blades with Trico teflon blades. They are the ones in the blue packet, but be warned you only get 1 per packet. These are the best I have ever used (and believe me I have tried them all). However they are quite pricey around $8 each. Got them from Kmart when they had 25% off auto parts. Good thing is because you only buy one you can buy different sizes which you need with the exy. From memory the drivers side is 24 inches and passenger side 18 inches. They just slide straight on, no need to cut them down if you buy the right size.

Re: Replacement Wiper Blades

Decided to do the splurge to the Teflon today. I've had enough of hearing that awful scratching sound for the past 6 months.

JD, Your absolutely correct that the Drivers wiper blade is 24” and the Passenger wiper blade is 18”. They are also a 6mm blade, for people looking at an alternative to Teflon.

Here is a pic of the packaging and part code:

I bought these at Autobarn for $10 each, and I must say they are worth every penny. A very nice wiper blade, lets just see how long it will last. emoticon

Re: Replacement Wiper Blades

Noel,

I thought I'd check the price of the genuine nissan ones first before I go for aftermarket and they replaced all of them for me yesterday for:

T30 SERIES I WIPERS

Front (large) $15.60 Part Number (2889579907)
Front (small) $12.14 Part Number (288959H400)
Rear $14.70 Part Number (2879589916)

T30 SERIES II WIPERS

Front Driver $ 20.57 (part number 2889579907)
Front Passenger $10.00 (part number 28895EQ010)
Rear $14.65 (part number 2879589916)

What a difference to the ones I had for over 2 years now emoticon

So, the price difference between these and aftermarket ones is not that huge anyway.
