price range for lights???

hi everyone

just wondering what the price range is
for some driving lights up front on the nudge bar?
I think the factory ones look a good size,
but the dealer wouldn't throw them in.(plus they are abit pricey$$$)
I don't think he liked me after all the extra's I already got of him for free.

also what's the better brands?

cheers

Re: price range for lights???

Hi Luke,

I got my Hella Rallye 1000 series for $320, they're good and similar in size to the factory nissan ones, but much stronger.

The other option you have is the Lightforce lights (either Blitz 240's or striker 170) I'm sure Rhichi can tell you more about these, as he got the 240's fitted on his nissan nudge emoticon

The best price I could find when I was shopping for lights for the above 2 was:

1. $420 for the 240's
2. $360 for the 170's

Re: price range for lights???

jazsam, I lent Jalal my copy of the 4WD Monthly magazine that reviewed about 12 sets of driving lights... Complete with images of the beam spread, etc...

I'm not sure if he's got access to a scanner so he could scan the relevant pages, or alternatively, (if anyone's worried about copyright infringements) find out from him which issue it is, and get it from the back-issues dept of the magazine. I may be mistaken, but I think their office is @ Silverwater in Sydney?

I reed that review carefully before I decided on my lights... The Blitz 240's are very much dedicated to long distance - even if the car/object is 20m in front of you, you'll only see two round circles of light burning brightly in front of you on the object... With lenses they can be changed to bit more of a spread-beam, but they still have that distinctive spot "spread", too.

I can't remember the other ones I was going to go for if I wanted the spread-beam - one of the brands stood out miles in front of the others in that department, too. I can't remember if it was the Rally1000's or not...

I picked my 240's up @ the 4WD show @ Darling Harbour earlier this year on special for about $385/pr I think, and installed them myself. Wiring harness from Nissan was just under another $100, and I've spent even more money (@ 4WD Megastores in Emu Plains/Penrith) on yellow fog/spread lenses too.

One thing to keep in mind is how easy they are to steal. Jalal showed me and I was truly amazed at how easy they were to remove - especially after I showed him how I thought would be a good method to effectively secure them before he showed me!

No worries Luke, glad to be of help emoticon

The magazine that Richi lent me was the "Australian 4WD" February 2004 edition that had very good reviews about the different range of lights at the market.

The couple reason why I chose Hella's over Lightforce was the "theft factor" and the fact that the 240's wont fit on my nudge the lightroce lights 240's are more powerful than the Hella 1000s, but the lightforce 170 are the same as the Hella's.

You can checkout the specs of each of the above lights at:

http://www.lightforce.com

And

http://www.hella.com.au

Let me know if you need me to scan you the reviews from the magazine.

Re: price range for lights???

I know this thread is old, but somebody else might go down the same track, and so everybit of info counts...

As Jalal knows i was looking at buying some driving lights. I ended up with Hella Rallye 1000 for about $178 ea at Autobarn and they also do installations for $88 plus materials.

Heaps cheaper than going the Nissan way. I was quoted about $700 at purchase time, and since i have been unable to get them to quote, plus the eneviatble delay of having to order in...
