Mufflers
Just had the rear muffler replaced (free under warrantee at 54,000kms) and I remember noodlesg had this problem too - a rattle that sounds like the heat shield against the exhaust on accelaration. Anyone else?

Re: Mufflers
Hi david,
Yes i had the same problem with my muffler - mine actually had a tiny hole in it on the bottom left hand side. I've since replaced it, with what looks to be one made from a different kind of metal. I've looked at a lot of other xtrails (series 1) and there has been holes in exactly the same spot as mine, so i recommend everyone check theirs out.
I don't know what the cause of it would be, but it seems to be a common problem with series 1 mufflers.
Matt
ps. Jalal, i ended up just spending the money on a new one from nissan

Re: Mufflers
That's OK Matt, I didn't want you to pay a fortune to Nissan for this, but if that brings you peace of mind, then you have made the right decision.
If that hole gives me trouble with my muffler, it'll be another good reason for me to get rid of it and replace it with a sports one with a double tail pipe
