Re: cargo cover

Be interested to know if there are any too.

We wanted to get one for our pre-2004 ST, but Nissan said the ST didnt have any attachment points, so it was something like $400 for the cover, plus big installation costs.

Consequently we still havent got a cover, but have considered making a simple homemade one of of fabric and elastic.

Re: cargo cover

As a suggestion why not try an auto upholsterer they may be able to source a mechanism and manufacture a cover.

Worth a try at least

Guys, I presume you're talking about the cargo blind? If yes, then I got one for my 2002 ST from the dealer at the time of purchase (i.e. thrown-in) and it didn't need any super big installation methods as the ST has already got the required fittings for it and all they do is slot the blind in place. In fact I just got mine replaced under warranty, as it wouldn't retract correctly into place, so they gave me a new one. I have to admit that I don't like the quality of these cargo blinds anyway and since I have installed my extra seat at the back, I'm no longer using the blind anyway (well, at the moment at least)

I would be very interested to find-out if there are any X-Trail at the wreckers, as I couldn't find any in Sydney. I'm a wrecker fan myself emoticon

Cheers,
Jalal

Ok I may have exagerated about "super big" installation costs emoticon , but they definately had to attach some extra clips that the ST didnt have. On top of the $400, which seemed excessive for what is basically a horizontal blind, I didnt persue it.

When I was trolling the auction circuit for my xtrail there were a few that were accident damaged. Just minor dings, so they were probably picked up by repair shops and re-sold. You'd need a write-off to get to the wreckers I'd imagine.

Re: cargo cover

When I purchased my cargo blind for my early 2002 Ti, I was not told that the clips to clip them to the rear of the seats required special seat backs to accept them. I initially clipped them over the top of the seat-backs and was even told that that was how it worked.

I subsequently found out that seat backs were available that were fitted with the part to accept the blind-clips. I then purchased replacement backs (they were costly).

Fitting the blind was very easy and the mounting brackets just bolt into the vehicle.

If Series 1 owners contemplate buying a blind, please be aware of the above.

I now have two seat-backs available, suitable for any X-trail without a blind. Please refer to the "Buy, Sell & Swap" section.

Re: cargo cover

Well, with the new arrival to our family due in approximately 2 weeks I figured I would try and fit the baby seat into the Exy. All went ok until I tried to put the cargo cover back in. The problem was that the baby seat needed a 300mm extension to get to the anchor point on the floor and the buckle lined up perfectly with where the cargo cover connected to the back of the seat and was stopping it from joining. Hence I decided to make a couple of aluminium brackets to allow the cargo cover to sit back a bit as per the following photo.

Image

The one on the right is how it is normally ... the left one has the new bracket.

It's not pretty but the beauty is that once the baby is done with the seat it can be reverted back to original ... and for the mean time the junk in the trunk is out of sight.

Re: cargo cover

Very good idea Spoony.

I have exactly the same problem and decided to leave the left side of the cover open, as it keeps snapping off.

Those factory clips are fiddly and poor quality indeed. I might actually try and change the clips themselves as they barely hold in place.

Re: cargo cover

Hey cargo blind'rs,

If anyone happens to have a couple of these clips floating around, I'd be happy to part with a couple of bucks for them. Dropped my blind and busted a couple, only have one each side at the moment. 8(
