Engine Types
Hi Guys,
I've been doing some reading on the net and noticed that there are mainly 3 engine types that the X-Trail is using here in Australia and overseas, these are:
QR20DE, QR25DE, and SR20VET (Turbo)
As my exy is a 2002 model, I checked my owners book that the dealership gave when I bought the car from and it states that I have a QD25DE engine, at closer inspection when I lifted the bonnet the other day to check my engine number, I noticed an engarving on the engine stating that it's a QR25 (without DE)!
So, I just wanted to find-out what type of engine other xtrailers have under their bonnets (especially, 2002 models..Peter) and what is the difference between the QR20DE and QR25DE and QR25 engine types?
Have I been short-changed by nissan with an old model engine fitted to my exy?

Re: Engine Types
Yeah, I would have said the 20DE was the 2.0 litre in other markets, the 25DE is our 2.5, and the 20VET is the 2.0 diesel in (mainly) Europe.
Wish that was available here...

Re: Engine Types
Sorry guys, I made a typo in my earlier post, I meant to say that I found my engine reading that it's a QR25 (without DE) and my sales docket states that I have a QR25DE engine and was wondering what is the difference?
Yep, cool for 20DE, but I thought the 20VET is the Japanese turbo version. I could be wrong.

Re: Engine Types
I probably haven't looked into it as much as you Jalal, I didn't even know there was a turbo petrol model in Japan. It's entirely possible that you're right

Re: Engine Types
Apparently the Japanese Turbo version is SR20VET. as been posted in the other forums and confirmed on nissan Japan web site.

Re: Engine Types
Hi Guys,
I've got a very detailed reply from one of the xtrailers from Panama through the Yahoo forums:
I took the liberty in cutting and pasting the information I received from him for everybody's benefit:
quote:
The X-Trail is offered worldwide with the following engines and transmisions:
>
> QR20DE/149hp/149lbs/4 Speed Automatic/FWD/Gasoline
> QR20DE/149hp/149lbs/5 Speed Manual/AWD/Gasoline
> QR20DE/149hp/149lbs/4 Speed Automatic/AWD/Gasoline
> QR25DE/164hp/172lbs/5 Speed Manual/FWD/Gasoline
> QR25DE/164hp/172lbs/4 Speed Automatic/FWD/Gasoline
> QR25DE/164hp/172lbs/4 Speed Automatic/AWD/Gasoline
> QR25DE/179hp/183lbs/5 Speed Manual/AWD/Gasoline
> QR25DE/179hp/183lbs/4 Speed Automatic/AWD/Gasoline
> SR20VET/279hp/230lbs/4 Speed Automatic/AWD/Gasoline
> YD22DDT/114hp/201lbs/6 Speed Manual/AWD/Diesel
> YD22/136hp/227lbs/6 Speed Manual/AWD/Dies
>
> Furthermore you have to take into account the Yulon Nissan X-Trail
> which is manufactured in Taiwan with the following variations:
>
> QR20DE/149hp/149lbs/6 Speed CVT/FWD/Gasoline
> QR20DE/149hp/149lbs/6 Speed CVT/AWD/Gasoline
> QR25DE/182hp/183lbs/6 Speed CVT/AWD/Gasoline
Pete, notice the word "AWD" now you know why the fuel lid cover that I got is justified
