Probably wouldn't mind if they could actually find and fix the other problems within the car!
What other problems do you have with the car?

Re: air con fan selector not working
Well.. ya all know I had issues with mine over the summber period. I don't think the switch is electrically sound. Where there are high currents passing through the plastic mould, larger wires have been inserted to compensate for the heat. A relay would have been better suited for this.
I think as the Exy's are getting older, more series 1 owners will start to experience problems with the switch. As time goes by, the insulation of the wires deteriorate, offering less resistance. At the end of the day, it gets quite dangerous. But as mentioned already Nissan just say "never seen that happen before".
As for the switch stopping on certain speeds(and I think this is also in another thread)... speeds 1-3 are connected via a resistor unit that is plugged into the fan motor base. If your switches stop working, then this is the most likely cause. This will set you back around $170 (from Nissan).
The 4th speed position comes straight through the fuses... this is the one that is the most dangerous one. The fan motor is pulling 15A on this speed, and the documentation shows two 15A fuses in parallel. Meaning that the fan would need to pull 30A before the fuses would blow. The wires aren't rated for that, nor is the plastic mould that the switch is plugged in to, so your car will catch on fire before the fuses blow.
My 2 cents!
