Re: X-Trail Washing Tips

I agree with Jalal - wax as you dry product is awesome. At work, the retic is often on (bore water) and its leaves terrible stains. Everyone was complaining you had to polish it out. I never had a problem, wash and then wax as I dry - good as new.
Oh and no I don't wear a bikini when I wash my car emoticon but I do use a plastic chair to get to the roof.

Re: X-Trail Washing Tips

As my town is due to move to level 7 water restrictions in 2-3 weeks i would greatly appreciate any suggestions on keeping my exy clean. bfa had a great suggestion but living in a small town our self wash depot is unrelaible been there a couple of times and there is just no pressure so i gave up and had to use the automatic wash at the local BP (hate those car washes) was wondering if anyone has tried the eco wash man? and is it worth the money? have met our local bloke he seem alright and his personal vehicle is an X-Trail. would love for people to share their waterless carwash experience any help would be greatly appreciated

cheers

Re: X-Trail Washing Tips

Bunnings is currently selling a high pressure washing pack for about $90. Sorry, but the name escapes me. It is yellow and carries about 10 litres of water. It also complies with being used during water restrictions.

You could also just buy one of those 5litre pump packs from the local hardware and give it a try. May take a little longer, but it saves heaps of water.

If I find the name of the Bunnings product, I will update this thread...

Re: X-Trail Washing Tips

Hi Brett,
The name is Karcha water pressure systems and can draw water from a bucket or tank.
I am looking at getting one as I also live in Brisbane under level 6 restriction and currently bucket water from the rain water tank to wash the exy once a week at present.
Good value I would think for what you pay for.
Regards

Scot and Wendy emoticon

Re: X-Trail Washing Tips

I often wonder what you are actually washing your car with at a commercial carwash, as most use recycled water and are frequently used to wash down boats that have just come from a trip to the beach. Would it be possible that you are actually spraying your pride & joy with a form of salt water ??, Any opinions ??

Not at the car lovers near my place, it didn't taste salty LOL emoticon

It was by accident when I sprayed myself with it with an open mouth. hahahahaha emoticon

Re: X-Trail Washing Tips

Ahoy to everyone,

I've read most of the threads about washing/polishing the car and couldn't find what type of sponges/clothes is everybody using for washing. Somebody mentioned using soft lambs wool mit and high quality chamois for drying off the car.

Basically the question is what is the best none scratch type of cloth to use for washing. And i'm actually wondering if anybody uses a very soft brush for the body wash ? I'm just thinking that when you use any type of cloth you can catch a little bit of dirt and scratch the surface of the paint while rubbing it ?!

Here's the link to the types of wash and dry products from Meguiar's - http://www.meguiars.com.au/product_2006.php?category=DETAILING%20ACCESSORIES&subcat=Wash%20and%20Dry&show=4 and you'll notice that there's a brush "Versa Angle Body Brush W/Long Handle" was wondering if anybody tried it. Or there is so called "Microwipe Super-Glide Chamois" which is actually nearly 40 bucks at Repco as i found out today and i find it a bit difficult to justify the price compared to a very high quality chamois for about 15-20 bucks. Any ideas on that ?

And would a Kenco Jumbo sponge (very cheap around $2) be fine for the standard wheel covers or you'd advise to use something better ?

By the way the Mequiar's products is just an example if somebody can suggest anything good in general i'm in all ears.

Cheers,
Serge.
