Side Steps

G'day All,

Has anyone fitted side steps to an X'y yet?

Really only want to fit to help my daughter get in and out and also they help protect paint work on gravel roads.

Have looked at the genuine Nissan part but at $800 is a bit rich compared to setps for other vehicles.

Any suggestions would be appreciated

Re: Side Steps

I am looking at adding the genuine ones on the xtrail when/if I buy one (and if it is added on during the initial purchase, it would be discounted to some degree). I also noticed that a few others have chosen alternate types of side steps. Any comments out there for why they have chosen the side steps they have? For me, my reasons for side steps is to access a roof boot.

Re: Side Steps

Hi Guys,

I've fitted X-Trak side steps on mine which are made in South Africa.

You can have a look at the pic. of them in the "Xtrail accessories" topic.

The reason I chose these over the genuine nissan ones were:

1. Price difference (I paid $495 for mine)
2. Better looks (my byest opinion) emoticon
3. Very light weight
4. Shiny stainless steel that wont rust.

Reasons whay I fitted side steps:

1. Get to the bloody roof of the car when washing it without climbing over the tyres and door steps emoticon

2. Help my kids get into and out of the car

Jalaski

Do the side steps take away much from your ground clearance?

Wonder how much the nissan side steps take away from ground clearance. For me, ground clearance is one of the reasons why i am looking at the xtrail.

Cheers

JCN,

Not sure how low the genuine nissan ones are, but the ones I have are 240mm off the ground. You could measure-up an xtrail without side steps to check if this clearance would be OK for you.

Jalaski

Thx for the info. By the looks of the photos of the nissan xtrail side steps, they look to reduce your clearance by about an inch. But because the dealer has yet to call back, I am unable to confirm.
