Re: X-Trail extra seating

Pete,

Fully agree that a home made attempt which I made earlier was just that "an attempt" I then came to realise that should I ever be involved in an accident with my home brew extra seat, my insurance claim will be refused.

I have taken this seat-out a long time ago.

This advert. is however is for a fully compliant and ADR approved extra seat for the exy, which is the way to go.

Official Brochure/X-Trail extra seating

Hi Guys,

I have just received the brochure, pricing and authorised fitters list, so I scanned these files and converted them to pdf

The company is called Retro Seating

The brochure can be seen here:

The authorised fitters list in NSW&ACT can be seen here:

All installation and fitting carry 5 years warrany and they're fully ADR approved.

I have no relation this company which is based in QLD, but I think it's good to see some Australian creativity to hit the market before anywhere else in the world in relation to the exy emoticon

The pricing I think is reasonable.

Re: X-Trail extra seating

Hi Matt,

After much thought and consideration, I decided to keep the space at the back for what it is intended for.

I also think the extra seats are just too close to the tailgate, hence there is a risk factor for the kids at the back.

Re: X-Trail extra seating

I'd also be interested in hearing if anyone has fitted one of these retro seats?

We have a visitor coming from Europe for an extended time and need to do something in regards to seating.

I'd also be interested to hear if anyone has seen retro seat set ups for X-Trails, that are just one seat instead of two?

Hi Guys,

I have just come across the xtrail 3rd row seat on eBay HERE

It is less than half price for those that are interested.

Re: X-Trail extra seating

Unless the xtrail can tilt the back end in a rear end collision as shown in this photo (Volvo Wagon) I don’t think the 3rd row of seats are safe. Just imagine what would happen if the rear end crumbled from a truck.

OOOhhhh Scary!!! Maybe I should just not drive in case i go head on with a truck. emoticon What about these dickie seats in commodore wagons. I'd rather have a bit of height with the Xtrail and a bloody big towbar sticking out... emoticon

I don't think it's going to matter whether your in a tarago, minivan, volvo etc. If your hit from the rear by a truck it's not good. Maybe we should all wrap ourselves in cotton wool and sit in the closet. Forget life, least your safe. emoticon

Re: X-Trail extra seating

I should not have used a truck as an example, but seriously even a sedan can crush the compartment. The xtrail is not designed for the third row of seat and neither are the extra seat belts. The Volvo V70 in the picture is designed to tilt and not crumble. Just illustrating a point and it is just a personal preference like I would prefer to wear a seat belt and that does that mean wrapping yourself in cotton wool.
