X-Trail extra seating
Hi Guys,
Since my mother's arrival from overseas for a one year visit and help with our newborn, I've been struggling with finding enough space to fit us all in the X-Trail to go for longer trips and feel comfortable with the seating arrangement in the car.
With a baby capsule in the back and a child seat, there isn't much room left for an adult to feel comfortable during long trips.
I was therefore wondering if anybody has inquired about adding one extra folding seat at the back and if the plastic can take the weight of that extra seat with a child on it?
I'm not sure where to look for after-market extra seats and was wondering if someone could direct me to an installer that does this in the Sutherland Shire area.
Cheers,
Jalal

Mate, I think you in uncharted territory there. I doubt one has been made for an xtrail yet (could be wrong).
It would just be the case of going to one of the makers of extra seats, and asking them if they can be fitted to an xtrail.
I'd reckon you'd need the Pajero style where they have one on either side wall, that swings down, so you can still access the spare tyre. ( A bit like those "spare" bus seats you get on 12 seater mini-busses, that fold off an existing seat into the aile).
I did a quick look on the internet, and it seems ready-made seats for other 4wd's are in the $1000 range, so not cheap.
Be very interested to see what you find, as
I wouldnt mind an extra seat of two for the very same reason.

Re: X-Trail extra seating
Hi Guys,
Well, I can now report that the X-Trail comes with an EXTRA seat at the back (if you so wish) and the best thing about having an extra seat at the back is that it didn't cost me a cent (thanks to the council clean-up)
I found just the right seat size and it was in good shape and order, so all I did was to screw the base of the seat to the removable plastic cargo cover (the one that covers the spare tyre) and buy a seat belt attachment, which I fitted to the anchors on both sides.
The seat folds forward and there is still enough room beside it to fit a big pram.
I got my son to test the new seat and he was very happy.
Now, everytime we go out, he's asking me if he can sit at the back
All it takes to have this seat removed is 4 screws or if I'm too lazy, I will just lift the whole plastic cover (with the seat) and put it in the garage.
Who said the X-trail doesn't come with an extra seat?
Cheers,
Jalal

Good thing about doing this in an xtrail is that the kid gets his own cigarette lighter as well!
And he can plug-in that in-car TV and DVD player to watch all his favourite movies without bothering me listening to my CD collection

:) X-Trail extra seating, It's Here!! :)
Hi Guys,
I've read this this morning in one of the Sydney magazines on my way to work.
"Attention Nissan X-Trail Owners!
Extra 'retro' child seating is now avilable for this vehicle"
Phone 1800 631 144 for info. brochure and pricing"
It's safety approved.
I'm going to call them this morning for more information.
Finally there is some sort of creativity and additions in the Australian market for the exy

Re: X-Trail extra seating
Hi Guys,
I have just spoken to one of the guys from this company who is going to send me a number of brochures of the extra row of seats for the exy, pricing and all of the authorised fitters details.
I will pass-on this info. to you guys as soon as I get it.
I was told that it's 3rd row of forward facing folding seats that fold onto the back of the rear seats to give you access to spare tyre and they're easily removable. They also come with integrated seat belts and something else at the back of the seats (can't remember what it was exactly)
The gentleman said that these said have been fully tested for safety compliance and have been fully approved by the Australian Safety Authority, they carry 5 years warranty on all installation.
Stay tuned!
If there is enough interest in this maybe we could negotiate a group deal, as I have already informed the guy about our forums, hence is going to send me multiple copies of the brochures.
