Re: Performance Enhancers

just changed the piping from cat-back with 2 1/4 inch piping. its a straight pipe from the cat back with all resonators removed. i'm still using my remus muffler at the back with this system. noise increase is definitely noticable but not too much as remus is a rather quiet muffler. performance gain is a smooth pick up with no sudden gain of power through any part of accelerating, and the car definitely feels faster over all. thinking of later putting in a resonator to keep the noise down but wondering if that would reduce performance a bit or not. i'll have to see.

Re: Performance Enhancers

Hi Guys,

I was driving today near Lewisham (Sydney) and stopped at a set of lights when something shiny caught me eye (you know my passion for chrome) emoticon anyway, I turned around and saw this muffler shop with every type of stainless steel muffler you can imagine, so I signalled and drove into the workshop.

What can I do for ya? The guy asked and I told him how much would it cost to replace the entire exhaust system from after the cat. (Including the small muffler under the car) and all the way to the rear muffler and replace the chunky muffler I now have with a sports type and TWO functioning exhaust pipes and tips "all in stainless steel"?

The guy said, sure, we can do this for you and it you would notice a definite improvement in power and fuel economy and the prices comes to $880 all up.

I thought it was a good price (but am not sure) as this the 1st time I ask about this type of mod.

Anyway, these guys are well known in Australia and they're called Hitech Mufflers they do have workshops in QLD as well.

Check them out and please let me know what you boyz think.

Am very interested now emoticon

Re: Performance Enhancers

Be careful of those internet "instant power" gimmicks: 90% of them are complete B.S.

I just bought an Xtrail, and I love it- I moved out of hi-performance sport compacts to buy one. I know from experience how much fun it can be to trick out a ride.

With regards to performance modifications, but the 2.5 that's here in Canada is, if I'm not mistaken, the same engine that's in the Sentra Spec V. This means there should be a extremely large amount of easily-compatible performance mods available, if not from Nissan then from aftermarket suppliers.

Being from Canada, I only know what Xtrail products are available here- and its slim pickings so far.

Re: Performance Enhancers

Just thought I should give an update on the extractors fitted to the vehicle. Been on about 6 weeks so far, improvement in performance is very noticable, makes car a lot smoother in its power delivery across the entire rev range, cruises at 100 much freer than before(doesn't feel like its labouring). Fuel economy wise I am not sure as I dont tend to keep figures, but appears to be around the same as previous even with the heavier right foot to appreciate the performance gains! Definately worth the trouble taken to research & find a quality person to perform the job. Now the development work is done anyone interested can now buy the system off the shelf around Australia & it bolts straight on. Insurance wise the RACV had no worries including this on our policy along with all the other extra's/modifications.

(Edit by Jalal) Just a bit of tidy-up emoticon

Re: Performance Enhancers

Haven't spoken to Nissan re warranty as if there ever was a problem they would have to prove that the extractors caused it & if this was the case you should be covered under the exhaust companies insurance! As for the cat there is a new one installed now located below the engine (I"ll post a pic in photo's, not sure how to do it here!!). No use waiting till you're out of warranty to do some modifications as you want to enjoy them now and by then it'll be time to sell it!! On the cat topic can anyone tell me if it's true that the reason dust from the original "cat" being sucked back into the engine was due to when the engine is switched off it did/does about 4 revolutions in reverse(motor spins backwards). Was told this by the company that manufactured the extractors. They did a bit of research on the vehicle obviously.

Re: Performance Enhancers

Hi, been reading you guys for 3 weeks now; and have had agood time. I have a 2002 exy ST, just back after recall. It actually goes better after leaving the dealership, for the first time in 3 years. They only fitted a front exhaust cover, and adjusted the O2 sensor. It is due for 50k service and will receive NKG iridium sparks after all my research. Picked them up at Viking for $17 each at Bargo.[of all places] Not letting Nissan do any more servicing, even though I have 2 yrs extra warranty. Clem emoticon

Re: Performance Enhancers

Hi all, could someone fill me in on the K&N filters mentioned in this discussion? I went back but couldn't find any details. Thanks for your answers on my "scared new buyer" questions, I hope to be ordering our new Ti in the next couple of weeks.
Thanks again,
Bill

Re: Performance Enhancers

Hi Guys,

I have started copying across items from the JAOS Japanese Accessories web site which relate specifically to performance enhancements.

These 2 sport exhausts can be found there as well.

When I did the on-line currency conversion from Yen to the Aussie Dollar, the price came-up as $560AUS each. (excluding shipping)
