Re: Replacement Tyres for T31 TL 18"

Bernii, it would be very hard to go past Cooper CS4s. They have an 80,000km warranty and they are, from all reports, a very good tyre. They meet the road/gravel ratio you require and they come in 225/55/18.

Cooper tyres are a little more expensive than some of the others but they are worth the money. My local Goodyear tyre place has them for about $288 each which would seem to be cheaper than the 7000s you were quoted.

Others like the Yokohama Geolandar AT/S which is cheaper again.

I still have the Dunlop 7000s but I'll be going to CS4s as soon as replacement is due.

Out of curiosity, how many kms have you had the 7000s?

Re:

Definitely shop around. I bought my CS4's for $198 a tyre HOWEVER this was from a shop that wasn't a Coopers certified dealer and came with no Coopers warranty (80,000km etc). The price saving to me was worth it.

Re:

Cooper's warranty is rubbish by the way. Mate has a set of STMaxx for his BT-50 and they're falling apart after about 30,000kms. He had them 'serviced' etc at a Coopers dealer as required - they say he's abused the tyres... its only 1 thats falling apart. He's considering fair trading now.

Kinda why I wasn't bothered, I'd rather pay less and gamble something happening.

Re: Replacement Tyres

Just fitted a nice set of BFGs to my xtrail. 225 x 70 r16, they do have a slightly larger diameter but look great, and looks to give the xtrail a little bit of lift..

Unsure at the moment, I had to bring the wheels home to fit as I needed to buy wheel nuts from a different shop. I havent really driven the car that far since fitting them.

I'm gonna guess no, as many other people are runing the same size, and I seen a xtrail in melbourne running these, hence why I brought them in this size lol.

I originally had heaps of trouble trying to buy them, as no one would sell me the All terrain tyres for my xtrail, 4 shops knocked me back, until I found one 150kms away..

I will be fitting up my antenna on Monday, then will try and get some nice photos, and see how the steering copes.. Might even find a puddle to play in lol..

Was told by my local shop that he wouldn't fit all terrains to my xtrail due to it not being a 4wd.. He'd only give me road tyres..

The others would only quote me on road tyres the minute I said I owned a xtrail. One of them even being a 4wd centre lol

Hence why I drove 150kms to some one that would help me..

Have had the new tyres upto speed today, 110kms/hr.. Handled wheel, a little bit of road noise, and steering feels really touchy.. Might just need a wheel alignment..

Re: Replacement Tyres

There loss of a sale in the end.
Such is the ignorance of some people that just because it doesn't have low-range they don't consider it a 4WD to need off-road tyres.

Besides the extra fuel to go get them I hope they didn't cost too much more.
