Re:

At least you're not experiencing any of the teething problems that T30 model had (or not yet anyway), so it looks like Nissan addressed the problems the T30 had and introduced a whole new set of T31 issues to worry about emoticon

Re: Warranty Repairs

===========================

Well. I have done just over 900 klms and noticed an oil leak in my new Nissan X Trail, Sept. 2012 build Ti. I noticed a small oil patch on the shed floor, looked under the vehicle and saw a drop of oil suspended at the lowest point where the engine and cvt gear box are bolted together? This is the first brand new car I have ever owned that has developed an oil leak in the first 1,000 kilm? My worry now is, is it the engine or the CVT? I will mention this to the dealer when I take it in for the 1,000 klm service.

Another thing, I notice the headlight stalk lever gets quite warm when the headlights or parking lights are on whilst traveling. Is this normal? My 2004 build X trail has none of the above?

Cheers, Haz.

Re: Warranty Repairs

Hi All.

I have just had my 2011 T31 Diseal engine malfunction light come on and it was a faulty EGR Valve - only after 20000 km's. I have also had a dust seal, a boot door handle and some otehr internal plastics that came off replced under warranty with no questions - I agree a simply thankyou and nice attitude will get things fixed.

Cheers Paul

Re:

I've had a pretty prominent BRRRR sound coming from under the car etc, when under load, for the past few weeks. It's kind of similar to the way a turbo spools up after you drop the accelerator pedal? But yeah, after multiple investigations, my Nissan Dealer seem to have discovered that there is "a crack in one of the air conditioning tubes" and it "causes the tube to resonate when the car vibrates under acceleration." I literally almost laughed... It deadset sounds like an exhaust issue, and only becomes apparent when more exhaust gases are being forced down the piping etc, just like a stress crack expanding/contracting under pressure. But hey, they've agreed to pay $350+ for a brand new a/c replacement part, with no cost at all being passed onto me. I mean, it's summer, so if they want to further ensure the quality of my a/c then it's fine by me! Will probably still be pretty smug when I walk back into the service centre and the sound is still there though. Other than the longshot theory, they've been pretty helpful and good about it all. Had to chase them every second day to get the ball rolling, but hey, they're a Nissan Dealer after all.

Re: Warranty Repairs

Hi all.

I just wanted to report what has been an excellent experience with my Nissan dealer following a warranty repair
The EGR valve on my TL failed, resulting in the dreaded MIL light. I took the car to the dealer and they immediately diagnosed the problem and ordered the new part. Sadly, there were nil stock of EGR valves in Australia, so they had to order one in from Japan. ETA was 10 days.
The great side of it was that Nissan Australia agreed to me having a rental car (at their expense) for the duration of the warranty repair.
Not only did they replace the EGR valve but they also updated the engine ECU software for me as well.
They kept in regular contact with me on the state of play and overall it's been a simple and hassle-free warranty repair.
Anyway, I like good news stories. I'm not sure how much it influenced the in being so nice to me but I can't help but think that having the car serviced exclusively by a Nissan dealer every time and never "fiddling under the bonnet" has helped my case enormously. I also believe a little "belly rubbing" goes a long way - people always look after those who are courteous...it isn't a hard thing to do.
I'd recommend my dealer in Canberra any day.

Re:

Mark... was it the south side or north side dealer (don't want to name either).

I've had terrible service from dealer up north (albeit suzuki, but they share the same service department): 6 trips to get a new 4 O2 sensors and eventually a new catalyctic converter.

I now drive from up north, to the dealer in the south - they even do drop off and pick up in the arvo.

Re:

How do repairs work out for each dealership? Are they covered at all for any repairs that they have to do under warranty from Nissan Head Office? Each dealership is working to make a profit margin. If I go to one dealership, even if its not where I purchased the car from, they are entitled to fix it right? Then that actual shop will make a loss, when its a fault of nissan, right?

Re:

Warranty repairs are first reverted back to Nissan Australia and have nothing to do with the dealer.
If Nissan say it is warrantable then the dealer will charge Nissan to carry out repairs.
If it is not warrantable, then the dealer will charge you for the repairs.

All warranty repairs are covered for 12 months, parts and labour.
If the vehicles 3 year warranty expires during this 12 month period then all warranties are null and void.
