Re: Paint-work Care

Last week, I needed to do a bit of spray painting as part of house renovations and it wasn't much, so I grabbed a spray can and with all my excitement of getting the job done quickly I completely forgot that my exy was parked right behind me in the driveway.

I was using a creamy colour spray paint.

Anyway, got the job done and finished after 3 coats. That was Friday. On Sunday morning I decided to wash my exy and after finishing and drying it completely I noticed what looked like dust on the bonnet, I started cleaning the bonnet and this dust won't go away, it was then I noticed that the same type of "dust" was covering the roof of my exy and the front fenders emoticon

I quickly remembered the spray can and realized that this dust was in fact over-spray and my exy was covered in that creamy colour over spray, it was the whole car, except the rear panels emoticon

I tried to use a couple of polishes, but it wasn't going anywhere, so I rang the car wash I always go to at Taren Point (Diamond Car Wash) and told them the story, they said to bring it for them to have a look at.

Got there 10 minutes later and they said, it's pretty bad and what made it worse is that my car is black and can NOT be buffed at all, otherwise I will end-up with swirl marks for life.

They started polishing one area of the bonnet and use a very strong industrial type of polish, after numerous attempts is started to give results, so they decided to proceed and polish the whole car!

3 hours later and after 4 polishing cycles of the entire car (I watched them do it) every single over-spray spot was completely smooth and shiny and the car looked like a million bucks LOL emoticon In fact I have never seen my car so shiny, even when new emoticon

Total damage was $120.00 but I reckon these guys saved my exy and deserved every cent. It was such a hard job on the guy polishing it, that I gave him a hug at the end and thanked him for his effort emoticon

Good lesson learnt, don't spray paint near a black exy emoticon

Re: Paint-work Care

That would have made me cry, especially if it was my fault.
Well worth the money, even if you took it there once a year, still a great price.
It saves you doing it anyway.
