Re: Paint-work Care

I’ve found the twilight quite a practical colour. And with the paint protection you hardly need to give it a clean. If it wasn’t for the brake dust on the front mags I’d probably clean it every month or so.

Kind Regards

A local carcare company have given my X a thin coat of 12% PTFE (Teflon). The company is called Tefcar and this treatment is given with a 5 year warranty!

And after this:
-No more polishing
-Less scratches
-Much more easy to wash

i cant find a english site but the norwegean is: http://www.tefcar.no/produkt.htm

Re: Paint-work Care

G'Day X Trailers,

Just did a search on paint protection and it led me here. From reading your comments, I think I will order the Crystal Glaze paint protection offered by VIP at Parramatta Nissan for $600 (was $895)

NPC73, what paint protection did you go with!

Re: Paint-work Care

I got “Shield 21” which offered a “Paint Shield”, “Body Shield”, “Sound Shield”, “Rust Proofing”, “Window Tint” all for $1295. I don’t know much about Shield 21, it was just offered by the Nissan dealer in Brisbane. I’m quite happy with it.

And a further comment on Paint Protection, it is definitely worth putting some sort on your vehicle, I can’t say enough about this, just brilliant, and in the long run will probably save you money. Locks in the high gloss and shields the UV rays. No need to expensive polishes, etc.

If your also thinking of rust protection, I would expect the electronic version these days would be better that the old fish oil.

Kind Regards

Re: Paint-work Care

Hey guys,

My sister at solace actually does the paint protection for some dealers, I will find out what it is and what it does. I was offered the whole package but solace does it for less than half.
They also do rust protection.

Re: Paint-work Care

Hey guys and girls,

Y'day i was recommended a good polishing/cleaning product from an autobarn manager - it's called Autoglym. Check out their website for full details.

He said he wouldn't use any other brand, initially i picked up a thing of maquires and he said Autoglym knocks that dead. Only problem is they are running out of stock in Aus because its imported from UK.

Cheers, Matt

posticon Re: Paint-work Care

Over the long weekend I did over a thousand K's between Melbourne and Northern Victoria (none off-road apart from a few k's of gravel emoticon) Covered the front with grass hoppers and other unrecognisable (now) insects. An old trick I've used since previous hopper/locust plagues: mix a packet of bicarb soda in a bucket of water, splash on liberally; let it dry a little while, then wash as usual. Just off to do the "wash as usual bit" now, but it's always done the trick in the past.
David.

Re: Paint-work Care

I also use bicarb on bugs. wash the car first, then go over the bug splat with a concentrated solution (mix up 500ml water with as much bicarb as will dissolve) with a separate sponge. I wash it off pretty quickly, no obvious effect on chrome or paint. I wouldn't leave it on long tho'
