Re:

If it half the original size, it's probably the wrong one. The correct one is a tight fit and you do need to squash it a bit to slot it in.

Re:

It was still a snug fit, when compared to the one I took out
Taking into account the fact that the one that was crushed into it and was about the same length when crushed down
They are pretty much the same size
The difference is the length it was about 2 inches longer
The height was the same
Where the old one was crushed, there were leaves and crap on the evaporator
I vacuumed off what I could with a tube extension attaced to my vac
Everythibg seems to work ok
But whyput this fitler in such an arkward place?
Getting to it was a pain

Re: X-Trail - Microfilter

Hi Valkie,

I recently fitted my filter to my 2010 Exy as discussed on the previous page. I had no issues replacing it and with the assistance of someone using photos to show where everything belongs.

Try quoting them the stock number from the previous page, you do have to squash it a lil to get it.

Best of luck.
Ben

Re:

I have just returned from overseas and obtained the correct microfilter.

I was having all sorts of issues fitting it and then I said to myself, what the hell, and pulled the glovebox out.
It was only 8 screws and it simply pulled out.

The access to the filter housing was then totally easy and I installed it in seconds.

THEN
while I was there I put an extenson plug socket into the dash glovebox, As per the instructions in another thread on this forum.
set up the wiring for the CB radio I plan to get soon and found a glove box light that I didnt know I had.

This light is a tiny little light that fits inconspictually into a little recess in the glovebox.
The bulb was blown, so I purchased a LED one and fitted it.
Strange thing, the light only works when the headlights or parkers are on, and its on all the time.
Being such a small draw, I suppose its not a problem, but it is a strange setup.

Anyhoo,
Now that the microfilter is fitted, everything is hunky dory.
I cant feel any loss of pressure and now I can fix it again should I need to.
Thanks for your help guys.

Re: Bum steer!

Hi Jalaski/ moderators.
Is it possible to get rid of the intro to this long thread as it totally misleads. It pops up at the top of my Google search. It wasn't until i had wasted time mucking around that i realised the solution was further in. I managed to remove and replace mine without removing the glovebox. You just have to bend a bit. I generally re-condition my cabin filters if i can. It involves a vacuum cleaner, blow gun, and a spray can of Glen 20. (As instructed me by an auto ac company.)
Cheers and thanks for the great info.

Re:

Not sure what intro you mean mate? The glovebox removal method is only applicable to the T30 X-Trail model as you would have read in this thread and the DIY Guides section.

The T31 microfilter removal is clearly shown on THIS page of the thread.

This thread covers both models (T30 and T31)

Re: X-Trail - Microfilter

Fellow Xyers,

Having found that my t30 GX had no A/C filter installed, I am wondering if it's possible to backblow the system via one of the A/C outlets on the dashboard in an attempt to dislodge any dust or debris that may be clogging the evaporator (which, of course, you cannot even see unless you laboriously dismantle the dashboard). I'm thinking of leaving the A/C filter door off and closing all but one A/C outlet, into which I'd apply my domestic vacuum cleaner in reverse to blast air into the duct. My big doubt is that, as I see from the workshop manual the system has various doors or flap valves, which are probably closed when the system is off, the exercise may be pointless. Anyone know if I'm right about this? I'd be most grateful for any advice on this backblowing cleaning plan. I've already had some kind of foreign body partly, and, fortunately, only temporarily, jam the blower blades making that characteristic "cardboard-on-bike-spokes" noise. No doubt this shredded body and other stuff have reached the evaporator.

B.t.w., it has been difficult to find this filter in Brazil, but, thanks to a Canadian forum member, I now know that those for other cars like the Sentra till 2006 and the Mitsubishi Oultlander till 2013 fit quite snugly.

Is the FCF075 still the best for a T31? I am looking at getting an activated carbon filter fitted.

Re:

I bought one from spares box. It seems a tad too long but I managed to fit the plastic cap back on with a little force. Yes, you don't have to remove the glove box to fit, but it might make it a bit easier to fit it.
