I was considering doing shock & springs, but got a too good to be ignored price on 2006 Murano wheels off Gumtree...so went with that...guy selling them was very interested in what I was doing with them. I asked specifically about off road use and the answer is that they are load rated at 690kg each which is equivalent to the t31 alloys. My intention is to wrap them in my geolanders and enjoy. I see no problem with using these wheels off road but would appreciate any input/opinion from the forum. It gives some confidence to my idea. Any issues with brake clearance? Do you have a recommendation on the offset? I am weighing up either replacing relatively new tires on the TL rim (pirelli scorpians come to mind) or running a 16 inch sunnies on AT's to be used on getaways only. If I need to raise it, I will most likely go down the monroe shock / spring combo, I will make that call once they are on. The motivation to do this comes from a lack a confidence from the sidewalls on the standard tires when on central aus dirt roads and finding replacement if the worst happens. Cheers B In theory, yes, as that size tyre/wheel diameter has been used in AT by quite a few members here without any lift kit. All depends on what tyres you plan on using however. Currently only myself, and more recently one other member (AugustusXTtrail), have fitted mud tyres(MT) to our xtrails. I had the lift kit installed a week or so before having the wheels/tyres fitted, and mine scrubbed a bit more than they should be allowed to (mainly on full steering lock or articulating offroad), but I would confidently say that had more to do with my aftermarket steel wheels having the incorrect offset than anything else. I think the only difference between the AT and MT in 235/70/16 could be the tread depth and the aggressive lugs on the sidewall, but I'm not a tyre expert and can only tell you what I know. And YES, my speedo is "out". My tyre diameter is 7% larger if memory serves me correctly(?). I've been radar tested and have also double-checked with my GPS, and as far as I can tell, my speedo is now running EXACTLY true, or I under-read by max 1km/h. 7% is the new maximum increase in OD you can have in nsw, so that's pushing it anyway, haha. nondisclosed_email@example.com (Ian Ewin)Wed, 23 Jul 2014 02:05:36 +0000 Re: Aftermarket Rims and Alloyshttps://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2084094,from=rss#post2084094https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2084094,from=rss#post2084094Hi All, So just an update on my tyres for my T31. Originally had the factory set up 215/65R16 Dueller HTs on steel rims. Now I have 235/70R16 Duellet ATs on same steel rims. Admittedly I've had the Pedders lift kit installed before the tyres were fitted. I've driven about 9,000km on them in 3.5months. No issues I think they're great, not even scrubbing at full lock or fully loaded towing a fully loaded trailer. Done one trip off road (300km on dirt road at 80-100km/hr) and had no issues. Admittedly I didn't even let them down from 38PSI. My only dissatisfaction is I believe they're the reason for my poor fuel economy when towing at full speed. Yes I could reduce speed from the maximum speed limit but when you gotta drive 1,850km that 20km/hr slower makes a big difference when you want to get home in 2days. Did the trip down in 24hrs! Very happy though :-) Cheers, Bennondisclosed_email@example.com (Twin mobile)Fri, 11 Jul 2014 21:29:12 +0000 Re: Re:https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2084093,from=rss#post2084093https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2084093,from=rss#post2084093quote:Ian Ewin wrote: The only difference is a few mm in the offset; but yes they're effectively the same. Firstly, in Qld is that a legal tyre size as I have read through soo many reviews (and calls which referred me to VSB 14 - 4.2.4) and none have definitively given me a straight answer. Secondly, I believe with my raised suspension I shouldn't have an issue with clearance but can anyone answer the scrubbing issue that Ian Ewing touched on. A number of on-line stores (like Beaurepairs and Jax) can provide a visualisation of rims that will fit your year, make and model of car. Most tyre shops I visited whilst in Brisbane leant towards CSA - Edge, while I was looking at the Speedy Wheels- Liberator as they slightly resembled the new models rims. I would still like some individualility, but does anyone know of a rim that is similar to the 17" newish model XTrail rims that come in 16" sizes? Cheers for any help, Benjamin FYI the web page for that document is http://www.infrastructure.gov.au/roads/vehicle_regulation/bulletin/pdf/NCOP11_Section_LS_Tyres_Suspension_Steering_V2_1Jan_2011%20v3.pdf nondisclosed_email@example.com (Twin mobile)Tue, 08 Apr 2014 22:36:12 +0000 Re:https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2081578,from=rss#post2081578https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2081578,from=rss#post2081578The only difference is a few mm in the offset; but yes they're effectively the same. I do have abit of time as I plan to change the wheels/tyres once i have no tread left on the first original tyres. i'm not fussed about legalities in my state but I want to put the widest wheel and tyre combination I can without scrubbing or fouling on anything on the car on full lock or on bumps. what i've been looking at are 19" wheels and so far looking at a set up of 19x8.5 and offset of +35. tyres I am thinking of are 245 50 19 (i still want to have a bit of tyre and dont want to get into the 40's profiles) or if anyone thinks it is o.k to maybe go for a 255 50 19. i would just like to know if anyone has any experience on this. below is a t31 from japan running 20x8.5 +35 wheels with 245 40 20 rubber. still looks pretty conservative and the 245 tyre looks a tad bit stretched whereas i'd like to still keep the straight sidewalls. http://cdn.mkimg.carview.co.jp/minkara/parts/000/005/436/663/5436663/p1.jpg?ct=a6417f78b476 http://cdn.mkimg.carview.co.jp/minkara/parts/000/005/436/663/5436663/p2.jpg?ct=a6417f78b476nondisclosed_email@example.com (jakez88)Wed, 04 Sep 2013 21:16:46 +0000 Re:https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2072992,from=rss#post2072992https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2072992,from=rss#post2072992Jonno... mate, I suggest you take my word for it after you've had a good read over the specs of the rims I bought, because if sunraysia's are really what you're after, the ones that I have on my exy are the ONLY option for our xtrails. nondisclosed_email@example.com (Ian Ewin)Sun, 14 Apr 2013 14:53:34 +0000 Re:https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2072653,from=rss#post2072653https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2072653,from=rss#post2072653No they won't fit as the PCD studd pattern is completely different to that of an xtrail which is 5x114.3 nondisclosed_email@example.com (jalalski)Thu, 04 Apr 2013 12:25:34 +0000 Re: Aftermarket Rims and Alloyshttps://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2072651,from=rss#post2072651https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2072651,from=rss#post2072651just realised those are 6 stud, but if i could find similar ones with a 5 stud pattern would my tires fit?nondisclosed_email@example.com (jonno t31)Thu, 04 Apr 2013 10:50:57 +0000 Re: Aftermarket Rims and Alloyshttps://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2072650,from=rss#post2072650https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2072650,from=rss#post2072650I currently have 215 70r16 A/Ts on my stock ST rims.. will these tyres fit?
