Re: T30 Suspension Lift

Ive decided not to try and raise the xtrail any more than it is (it already sits higher than most 4x4s I see on the road), it is a daily driver for me and I am now playing around with a Toyota Surf emoticon

I will just get bigger tyres when the time comes.

Mate honestly I'd love to see any xtrail sit "higher than most 4x4s on the road", but mine already has a total of 3.75" lift up front and 2.5" in the rear and it still looks like it's standing on its tippy-toes when next to a stock hilux/navara/cruiser/patrol haha. One day! haha, we'll get there one day.

Re: T30 Suspension Lift

Have had the 2" Strut Spacers as well as 235/70 R16 tyres installed for a grand total of 3" of lift... and I still have the lowest 4x4 at work! Admittedly the other two cars are raised a bit as well (A lot in the Challengers case!)Image

Ah I did not mean all these jacked up ones and er I really meant all the normal urban assault soccer mom 4x4/AWD that I see which are quite low even the T31 Xtrails are low, So yes I understand what you meant... emoticon

Re: T30 Suspension Lift

Just replaced the front driveshafts and had a chance to measure the extreme angle of the outer CV joint when the suspension was at its lowest with the 50mm strut spacers fitted...exactly 22 degrees as stated in the service manual as the maximum angle, so no more lift can be done through suspension mods unless you want to be replacing driveshafts more frequently.
Ofcourse this depends on how often you have your suspension fully extended emoticon

Re: T30 Suspension Lift

Many owners including myself have lifted their xtrails with King springs, iv'e heard the ironman ones can sag after a period of time.

Re: T30 Suspension Lift

I was also thinking about doing a lift to my 2005 xtrail 2.5l 4wd. If I go with the efs 2 inch lift do I have to change my shocks due to the vehicle sitting higher. Also I was looking into just doing the GQ/GU 50mm lift. Will the spacers fit easily or will I have to modify anything?

Thanks Dustin

No need to change your shocks if you're just doing the 35mm coil lift mate. If you're carrying heavy loads or do a lot of driving on corrugated roads however you might wish to consider upgrading these in the future. Not sure what this GQ/GU 50mm lift is exactly? But if you're referring to the superior engineering 50mm strut spacers(?) then you won't need to modify anything. I would not recommend installing both coil lift and strut spacer in tandem however, as this can cause premature wear on cv joints etc. I had the coil lift in my T31 which translated into only 20mm of lift at the front (after sag) and I added a 30mm poly coil spacer(note: NOT strut spacer) afterwards which never gave me any grief so make of that what you will. There are a select few who have installed both however and I'm sure with a bit of searching you could probably ask them some more specific questions yourself.
