Re: T30 Suspension Lift

jalalski, only thing different in the search was (& both were irrelevant) "Technical Problems & Solutions - Axle Tramp (front end bouncing)" and "Towing & Recovery - Towing a jayco camper trailer".
Other than that, the same links to everything else I've already read in this section...thanks for the effort anyway emoticon

I know the springs don't need replacing because the struts are shot, but I figure with near 120000 on the clock (& as far as I know, still original), I may as well replace them all while I have everything apart, & the Minister has given approval...& as Bob Hudson once said, "Don't you ever let a chance go by..." emoticon

So I'll do as cooch t31 suggests, & get onto the likes of Pedders & such, see who can come up with what. If it means going up an extra 1" - 1 1/2", so be it emoticon

Re: T30 Suspension Lift

Rang nearest ARB. They said OME don't do for the XT anymore, but they'd use a King/Monroe combination for 'round $1700

Had to travel to the next town yesterday, & they happen to have a Pedders agent, so dropped in & had a yarn. He'll get back to me.

Either way, both said she'll be going up by about 35mm...give or take, without taking into account any sag from wear!
Might have to breakout the platform stilletos emoticon

Re:

Attempted the put the Superior Eng spacers on today and did not get far at all. Started with the front passenger side, disassembled, attached the spacer and attempted to re-fit.
Can anyone tell me is there a trick to fitting these? .
There is no way you can push the control arm down far enough to re-attach the strut to the hub after fitting the spacers. The only way possible that I can see is to compress the spring.

Can anyone who has fitted these offer any advice?
I am going to give Superior Eng a call tomorrow regardless.

Re:

Its a long time ago for me - I cannot remember any trick but I do remember it took a lot of pushing and shoving. I do remember thinking, like you, that the spring would have to be compressed. I think I maybe just used a couple of big screw-drivers to leaver the bottom of the strut about a bit. I know I did not have spring compressors.

Re:

Thanks Alex,

So after several unsuccessful attempts, purchasing a set of spring compressors, a couple of phone calls to Superior Eng, totally wreaking a CV boot and managing to slip the passenger side axle from the gear box empting it of trannie fluid I have given up. I can’t honestly see how you can fit these things. I tried everything and cant see how you can get the hub low enough to get the bottom bolts in. I had both sides jacked up, had a breaker bar pushing the control arm down even un-did the front sway bar. Bar completely ripping the whole front end apart which I am not going to do then I figure they just cant fit.
I have even had a look at the pretty comprehensive instructions found on this website.

Luckily it looks like the guys at Superior will take these back and offer a refund.
It was a great waste of two days.

Re:

Sorry to hear this Beni

When I did it I only had one side off the ground at any time - don't know if this makes any difference.
I definitely had to detach the sway bar from the lower arm (to allow the arm to go lower). I remember not getting close until I did this.

Re:

When i did mine all i did was compress the spring and pushed the shock down moments before fitting.I put one nut on and then fitted the two bottom bolts on the tower and pushed the wish bone down with my foot.
I had one wheel up at the time to allow the torsion bar to twist. The rear was the easier compared to the front.
