Re: Suspension Lift

I think thats an ok price for the lift. Even looking at the breakdown of cost $200 for labour is pretty good considering the time and energy to get them in.
Price for the aux tank may seem high but its about what you would pay for an aux tank on other common petrols. For example its not that much different to what my GQ costs. I assume about 200 is for the transfer pump.
cheers
Pete

Re: Suspension Lift

Swagman4x4,

With the lift do you think nissan will void any warranty or have you discussed thechanges with them.

Do you have any photos available.

In regards to Bash plates I have someone just left our work place and starting metal Fabrication Business and have asked if they can help out, will call them soon.
The xtrail in that website has a winch as well

Re: Suspension Lift

Hi Guys
I have no photos of the Aux Tank I got my info on the tank from Long range Automotive in Melbourne (still on my wish list to install).
As far as I am aware none of these mods are covered by the Nissan Warranty, that is covered by the manufacturer of the parts you fit. Nissan still cover the rest of the vehicle.
You need to inform your insurance about the changes you make, they may ask you to pay extra.

Yes the Aux tank is expensive, but it includes the fill port, transfer pump, dash gauge and mods to the exhaust.
I had 45L aux tanks on my Ford Maverick and they were around $700 12 years ago.
The Landrover 60L tanks were $1100 6 yrs ago so prices are in the right range especially since they will be a small volumn seller.
The Xtrail is a soft Offroad 4wd with huge sales they seem to be every where on the road you soon notice them when you buy one. It will only take time before more parts are made available by the likes of ARB & TJM or even some one new. We just have to keep asking and some one will fill the demand.

Re: Suspension Lift

Swagman4x4,

have you changed shocks as well or just springs.
I find that with Standard shock not much wheel travel and lifts easy. If 30ml higher would this decrease wheel travel.

Re: Suspension Lift

Shane & Ella
There are no longer shocks available at the moment for the Xtrail.
The reason I fitted the larger springs was to maintain the original unloaded height of the xtrail when it was filled up with people, camping gear & caravan on the back.
when you load up a vehicle the springs compress lowering the vehicle.
Fitting larger springs mean that the compression will be less and the longer springs mean that the compression should only come down to the original uncompressed spring height. Maintaining a ride height of a unloaded vehicle when fully loaded means better performance off-road. The down side to this means a harder ride when unloaded.
It also stiffens up the vehicle when cornering, this I prefer to the softer cornering of the original.

Wheel travel is not great but it will be better with the larger springs because a vehicle loaded will compress both Springs and shocks limiting the amount of travel.
Longer Shocks would be better but only if the lift was much larger say 100mm.

I reckon the aux tank price is quite good. Add to that they have to mod the exhaust and you are getting a dash guage.
My LRA into a GQ a pretty simple bolt on was about the same price and I havnt got the guage, never used the dam transfer pump either - it just venturies (spelling) over once my main gets to 3/4,s full (its a LRA as well)

You are right about creating the need and market. The mods are going to come I think. Was talking with people at the show and most are looking at the future which comprises a lot of smaller 4wds

Re: Suspension Lift

Rang Pedders to enquire about the lift and was advised they use Track Rider Coils and will increase by 25mm (As we no) and shocks do not need replacing as advised by swagman 4x4 cost was $695 incl 4 wheel wheel alignment. I am going to contact ARB to see if the kit is ready.

Hi Shane,

I had Mal (the guy who sold me his 16" rims) send me a pic of his xtrail with his new rims and a suspension lift mod. and he stated that he's got 45mm lift with the Track Ryder springs kit from Pedders. Do they have 2 kits available for the exy, one is 25mm and the other is 45mm? emoticon

Here are a couple of pics he sent me when he tested his new rims and the suspension lift at Stockton (he was very happy with lift)

Re: Suspension Lift

Jalal,

That does not look like 40mm, does he have any photos on hard surface, pedders only have 25mm lift.

Is he registered with the forum.

This what he said ih his email to me emoticon maybe he was quoting an overall lift with the 17" rims, but I still can't see how he ended-up with 45mm, if Pedder only have 25mm available ?!?
