posticon northern nsw Xeephile/Audiophile - longtime lurker comes out!

hello! thought it was about time i did this,i have been lurking here reading (and re-reading)for months , its such a great resource we have ,thanks to Jalal and everybody.
anyway ,i have an 05 series 2 manual ST,its Twilight colour with nearly 12,000 kms on it in 6 months. we love it,It really suits us and the roads around here:everything from superb new Freeways to lots of dirt tracks (trails?) frequently very wet this year too.
So far, i modded the Xe with:
K&N airfilter Nismo Noise Filter& Groundwire Kit
Full CHROME and stainless trim kit
17 Chrome Alloy AMG Vortex 5 spoke wheels
          Yokohama Geolander HT/S 225/55 R17
          Nissan nudge bar
          Airplex bonnet stone deflector
Nissan USA Altima/Xterra fog lights in bumper
          Nissan rear fog light
OptiBlue SilverMaxPlatinum H4 90/110 headlight bulbs
          Front Sheepskins
          Brake light decal !

I took out the factory CD and speakers and have installed a Kenwood DDX8047 5.1 DVD player/lcd screen along with Focal KP2 componant speakers, two 400 watt amps and a 13 inch sub, i also Dynamatted (insulating sound deadener)the doors .this setup is workinprogress at the moment. I hope to enter this Xe in the CAASQ sound quality competions in the near future.
I have just ordered the 'Twins" Hi Tech dual exhaust system and i will get it put on next week.I cant wait !!
I will post some pics soon too

 happy trails to you all!

 Davex,
I notice this is your first post and you already have started customising your exee. So, you've been sitting in the darkness, modifying your exee in silence. And they thought Australia II was a secret. I think you better post some pics soon mate, before Jalal gets his hand on you.emoticon LOLemoticon

 All the best and welcome.

Hi Dave,

Well done for coming out!! emoticon Welcome!!

I have a Whiteline rear sway bar fitted to my X-Trail, at the same time I had Koni adjustable shocks fitted too - the on-road handling improvement is amazing! Just fitted the front strut bar this afternoon too, just waiting to give it a test drive.

Adam

Hi Dave and welcome to the forum...finally emoticon

I'm happy that you decided to come-out from your hiding place and join us. hehehe

I look forward to see the pics of your beast.

P.S. Brett: I got my hands on Dave a LONG time ago and we kept in touch through-out his "modding" process. I just wanted him to share it with you all here and am really glad he decided to do so. emoticon

Dave: By the way, your list of mod would be better displayed in THIS thread.

Enjoy your stay here Dave and those "twins" will be on their way to you shortly emoticon

well well well.... closet relationship here eh?

Good to see you on board Dave. This forum is one of the better forums by far with mature people who happen to love their rides. Just a quick question regarding your 13in sub. How have you mounted it?

I've got a pair of 10's salvaged from my previous car and was looking at the exxy on the weekend trying to think of an unobtrusive way of installing the the subby (only plan on using one) without compromising space. I know I can floor mount the bugger with clips securing the box in place leaving me with the option of unclipping it whenever I need the space.

However, Looking into the spare tyre well and the foam dunny (the foam piece which does a miserable job of stopping the plastic floor cover from rattling), I was thinking of moulding a fibreglass enclosure based approx on the dimensions of the foam piece and then creating a faux floor cover (with enough holes to allow the base notes trhough) in replacement of the plastic item. Not after huge base but really enjoy listening to the music kinda loud when cruising by myself.

Re: northern nsw Xeephile/Audiophile - longtime lurker comes out!

 thanks Sam,
the sub(Focal Utopia 33wx) is in a 2.5 cu.ft ported box tuned at 30 hz, it sounds great but at the moment is in the wrong shape box for the Xe cargo area.its 15h 15w 22d , so the box sits way too high, and takes up a lot of space. Horrible body roll round roundabouts with all the weight up hi too. anyway, I will be building a new box soon that sits 7hi -37 wide- 25deep. the Focal sub will be mounted magnet side out. (Chrome side up) emoticon
I thought about fibreglass too but a low box will be easier for me.
what kind of 10s do you have?if you have the specs i can run a simulation.

Hi Dave,

And Welcome to the Forums.

It's never too later to come out from hiding, hehehe, looks like almost everyone has hammered you already, so I don't need to do it any further.

Mate all those mods already just as a lurker? Great stuff.

Now that you've actually joined up officially, take notice of this thread:
