posticon New Melbourne X-Trailer

Hi Everyone. emoticon
Well, dad's the one that has the x-trail, but if he's not using it, i am emoticon
We own a 12/03 Series 2 Ti, in Twilight.
It's just [sign in to see URL]'re really happy with it.
It's done everything we've asked, which apart from taking it for a bit of a drive to SA and back is probably not that much.
At the moment, i'm trying to convince dad to get a few accessories (towbar, nudge bar, parking sensors) but, it's taking a little bit of [sign in to see URL] well.... emoticon
Is the Nissan Towbar any good (i saw a rusted one on a 2 year old in a dealer today)?...or is it worth maybe paying $100 more and getting a Hayman Reese Hitch(lifetime warranty)?
And, can anybody recommend some short drives around Melbourne for giving the x-trail a bit of a workout?
Thanks for any info,
Jonno

PS: Love the site...emoticon Always great advice emoticon

Re: New Melbourne X-Trailer

Hi Jonno,

And Welcome to the Australian X-Trail Forum.

It's unusual for the genuine Nissan towbar to have excessive rust. I’ve had mine for over 3 years and it still looks brand new. A lot would depend on where the previous owners have been driving the exy I guess, and the Hayman Reese would suffer the same fate under the same conditions.

A much more cheaper option would be to try the wreckers. Genuine Nissan towbars are selling at the wreckers for around $100. You could even try the wreckers for all your other accessories you want to get, which would be a fraction of the cost of buying them brand new.

Cheers

Welcome Jonno. Its good to have another Melbourne member. There's some reports in the trip reports section with the subject: "trail baggers" of treks around Melbourne. David M.

Thanks Guys emoticon

Don't suppose any of you know anyone who has a Hayman Reese towbar? and might therefore be able to get a picture of it...
also, one of the nissan one would be cool as well....(both attached to the x-t)

Jonno, to see a pic of the genuine nissan towbar attached to the exy, go to the ]Main Page and click on "Members" then click NSW/ACT and view Y WAIT's profile for example.

Also have a look in ]THIS existing towbar thread for more pics of the genuine nissan towbar.

There are others there too (maybe even a Hayman one)

They're both very similar in appreance.
