Re: Excited, Just bought one!

Hi xcited and welcome to the forums.

It is an X-Citing deal you scored there for sure and you have done pretty well emoticon

When you get back home and have a bit more time to browse through the forum and use the "huge" search button feature we have here, you will notice a couple of nudge bars selling in the "Buy, Sell and Swap" section of the forum emoticon

Also type the search word "towbar" and you will also get some help there with the info. contained in existing threads.

Enjoy your stay here and let us know if you need any help.

P.S. You're also encouraged to read the forum rules in the "announcement" section of the forum.

Re: Excited, Just bought one!

I agree David.

On a recent trip to Mornington (Dromana & Rosebud) I spotted at least 20 Exys. That's in one day! I was shocked when even the missus said "there is Xtrails everywhere!". Mind you she normally doesn't pay much attention to these things unlike us enthusiasts.
Pity I didn't have any cards on me. I returned home and printed some and am ready to boost some numbers from Victoria for this forum.

On that note, I also have to make an effort and put some pics of my own ride in the Vic State category.

Re: Excited, Just bought one!

I'm in the South East lads, Chaddy area...

yeh there are a few around but that only tells me that people are happy with [sign in to see URL]'m planning on starting a family with the missus and we are looking at keeping the Xtrail as long as we [sign in to see URL] reckon i can get 200,000 trouble free kays out of it...

i was looking around to replace my company car, this one i'll be claiming through work so i cant see it costing me [sign in to see URL] at the Honda Accord Euro, Vectra CDXI, Mazda 6 luxury ect, but for the price, power, size, economy, equipment reliabilty i dont think i could have chosen a better car..

Missus loved it when we took it for a test drive, and she is usually very blaze about cars..

picking it up next week i'll post some pics

Welcome Xcited,

To help you out with some research I got a Hayman Reece towbar fitted which is the one Nissan use anyway.
Cost was $360

Good luck with your new car.

Re: Excited, Just bought one!

Hi Guys,

Finally picked up the beast last [sign in to see URL] Titanium Ti-L auto..
Love it! Surprised how car-like it handles, after reading some reviews by Wheels ect that describe the ride and handling as too soggy and the steering as very vauge..
Whilst the steering is light (compared to my BA Falcon) I find it precise and makes the car quite nippy in its [sign in to see URL] for the handling, mate I thought the thing would roll through tight corners ect but I am amazed how flat and unsettled it remains through the [sign in to see URL] funny as my missus is very careful when reversing ect as I have outlined the consequences if she scratches the new baby…coming out of an her Astra she thinks it huge and you'd think she's driving a Suburban or a Prado..

Anyway I’ll list my likes/dislikes

Likes
That sunroof, massive!! Feels more like a cabrio when she's wound all the way back
Space, backseat room, nice commanding driving position,
Looks good in the Titanium with the tinted windows..
Like the spotties
Handling, not like a 4WD at all, surprising how it performs on my favoured backstreet track I always fang my cars on (in a safe manner of course)
Mid range grunt, 2.5 loves to rev for a big capacity 4 pot
Quality of the fit and finish, mines 3 years old 35,000 but previous owner maintained the car very well..
Black leather interior and wheel very nice [sign in to see URL] classy finish to the cabin
Booming sound out of the factory 6 [sign in to see URL] don’t see any need to upgrade speakers ect (but then again it’s a personal choice)..Anyone know what brand the head unit is??
I really like the series 1 alloys and compared to the series 2, look a bit chunkier
Surprised the amount of wheel spin you get when you boot it in auto mode around a corner
Great brakes, has new front pads for the [sign in to see URL] at the rotors thickness looks quite good for 35K on the clock
Factory roof racks look cool, not that I’ll be using them..

Dislikes
That damn beeping when the doors open (yes I’m going to attempt to disable it soon, I’ll print out the instructions off this site)
Lack of steering wheel mounted Volume/stereo controls, also the volume control is on the left hand side which means initially I kept having to take my eyes off the road briefly to adjust sound or change track
Being a series I would have liked electric seats, and a little more [sign in to see URL] could lower the seat a tad more
Steering Wheel reach adjustment
No glovebox light
Whilst I'm getting used to the centrally mounted dash, at night staring down at nothing was very [sign in to see URL] I'm already used to it
Factory triptronic and steering wheel mounted paddle shifts (yeh keep dreaming) and 6 speed sequential gearbox (would be nice though)
Traction control should kick in in 2WD mode, as it surprisingly easy to light up the front tyres
Whilst I know about the interior scratching easily, the previous owner has put a contact like clear film across the rear door trims and the plastic along the B Pillars (inside) as he had 2 young [sign in to see URL] ripped off these protective strips and bingo, immaculate door trims…I think I’ll be doing the [sign in to see URL]'m really paranoid about more scratches so have warned the missus to remove shoes and all jewellary before driving..(whilst I am joking I am seriously going to put this to her tonight!)

All in all the dislikes are minor, love it…
Been reading the posts on the twin system and would love to add this at a later stage…I'm a sucker for a nice cat back [sign in to see URL] as it has no nudge I was determine last week to get one but actually don’t mind the front end now without [sign in to see URL] tossing up over [sign in to see URL] its got the factory windshields, hate them, I’ll be flogging them on here soon

Next service adding the K&N Filter and I've started hassling the missus about getting the [sign in to see URL] going to be tough but not impossible..

Cheers

Most of those guys who are reporting about our exy never actually driven one LOL They have no idea!

as for the handling, mate I thought the thing would roll through tight corners ect but I am amazed how flat and unsettled it remains through the bends..

Wait until you fit a strut bar emoticon

My wife thinks it's huge too and never stepped a foot in it for a drive. Am not complaining either LOL emoticon She's ALL mine!

Is that a "like" or "dislike" because if you take it off-road, you'll be suprised by what it can do to deserve the name 4WD emoticon
