Newbie from Canada

Greetings to all from the extreme far east of Canada - Newfoundland & Labrador.

I'm Roger and have been a proud X-T owner since early June of this year. My ride is a 2005 SE AWD with an Auto tranny. Here's a picture.

Image

I'm a member of another Nissan forum, which also has your Admin. jalalski as a very active and participative member.

Thought I'd hook with with you other folks from down-under, see what I can learn and if possible, contribute in some small way.

I've already "searched" around your forum and see a lot of things in common.

Look forward to the experience.

Cheers to all = Roger

Re: Newbie from Canada

Hi Roger and welcome to down-under emoticon

Nice to have you on board and am sure between the 2 forums we can share as much knowledge and information as possible for the benefit of all xtrailers.

P.S. I noticed that you're having problems displaying the image in your signature. All you need to do is put the image code bracket before the link and it'll bring it up.

So for example if you wanna say "This is my ride" as part of your signature and display a photo, you need to write the following in the signature box in the Control Panel:

[url=xxxxxyour photo link]THIS[/url "close the bracket here" is my ride

Please ensure that the photo is resized accordingly (i.e. not too big)

Enjoy your stay.

Re: Newbie from Canada

Hi Jalal:

Thanks for the welcome - I've been meaning to sign up for some time now emoticon

Already spent some time browsing the site and know I will enjoy my time here.

I read the "rules" and your post asking "newbies" to update their signatures. As you noted, I tried - unsuccessfully emoticon I'll try again, using your suggestions (not quite sure how to "resize the photo accordingly)....do I use the "direct" link as opposed to the "thumbnail for forums" ??

I noticed the change to the link for this site on the other forum (your response) and will ask Marc if he can do an "edit" so the members there will have the fastest access to your Forum.

Cheers = Roger

P.S. any spell-checker ?? if not, I'll beg forgiveness up front - spelling is not my strength emoticon

Re: Newbie from Canada

Hi Roger,

In your signature you can use the "direct" link to the photo and as long as you follow the command line I gave you above, it'll bring-up the word "THIS" as a link to your photo.

For posts you can continue using the "thumbnail" code just like you have done above correctly.

There usually no need to resize the photo if you're hosting it on ImageShack.

Sorry, no spell check at this stage and none of us here is a spelling expert (especially not me) emoticon

I usually use Word before posting, but if I'm in a hurry I stumble across my spelling mistakes later on.

Re: Newbie from Canada

Thanks again, Jalal. As you can see, it works.

Could not get it to work with the "direct" link, so used the thumbnail. I did re-size it to a smaller dimension.

With that out of the way, I can get on to enjoying your Forum - albeit, that it will have to be tomorrow, as it's just past midnight here now emoticon

Cheers

Re: Newbie from Canada

Roger,

Well done.

You actually don't need to display the thumbnail in your signature, as the word "THIS" in "THIS is my ride" is already linked to it and anyone who presses it will be taken directly to your pic.

Have a good sleep now and you can try again tomorrow emoticon

Hey Jalal :

Do I get an "E" for effort ?

Think I'm closing in on it now - at least I got rid of the picture (almost).

No need to be perfect - - there was only 1 perfect Man and they crucified Him . . .

Cheers

P.S. how come we don't do the "picture in signature" on the other forum ?? It's a good idea - kudos to you and your team.

Re: Newbie from Canada

OK Roger, one final step and you'll be there emoticon

Remove the thumbnial URL link from your signature box that is showing "before" the link/url command you used for the word "THIS".

As soon as you do that, that red cross would disappear.

Am not sure why we can't have the same phot signature set-up in the other forum, maybe its a software thing of the forum itself or the restrictions put in place by the admin staff.
