Jason,
I presume you're talking about the centre roof light?
If this is the case and your exy is a Series I (pre-facelift model) which I think it is, as you don't have the Series II in Malaysia yet, then the active (positive) wire is red&white. I can't remember the colour of the negative wire, but from memory I think it's green&yellow.
You can easily unscrew the centre roof light to have a look at the wire colours and test them by connecting to the terminals.

No. The wires going under the kick plate to the door switch are different to the wires feeding into the centre roof light. It is easier to unscrew the roof light than take the kick plates off. Shouldn't take you more than 10 mins.
Bare in mind that if you decide to locate the extra light near the floor you will have to run wires from the roof all the way down through the centre pillar. It will be exactly the same install process as the LED kick plates. (refer to that thread in the main chat area under "accessories")
