long range fuel tanks

Hi Guys,
Has anyone ever fitted long range fuel tanks to the xtrail.
When the time comes for me to retire (not long now, I hope) I am planning a trip around OZ, towing a caravan. I have discussed, at some legth the option of having autogas installed. The response to that was that It would not be worth my while as I would still not get much of a saving, given that I will be towing the van.
Any help would be very much appreciated on this subject, and if anyone knows of a company arond the Perth area too, this would also help.

Hi xtrailjunky,

This subject has been covered off in THIS thread and there is also a link to a company that does them for the xtrail.

Can I please ask you to use the "Search" feature before creating new threads, as we have nearly covered off all subjects about the xtrail over the past 2+ years emoticon

Re: long range fuel tanks

 Matey,

Is there a real need to go the extra expense of a larger fuel tank or even a gas conversion ???

If you are mainly sticking to the bitumen, with a few side tracks thrown in to visit the 'better sites', wouldn't you be better off by carrying a few 20litre jerry cans on the caravan.

One tip though, upgrade the rear suspension. I have seen numerous x-trails pulling caravans of all sizes with the rear tyres almost scraping the rear guards and the front wheels 'just' touching the ground.

Enjoy it. If you want some ideas, send me a pm. I spent 4 months doing a similar trip (in a Pajero) and loved it.

Re: long range fuel tanks

thanks for the emails, I have done a few trips with this van already and have had no trouble with the suspension, I have always made sure that I pack the van correctly and also use ride levelers and antisway bars, but thanks for the tip on the suspension.
yours xtrailjunky.
